Welcome to SHRS

Learning at the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences extends well beyond the traditional classroom. We are dedicated to educating the next generation of health and rehabilitation professionals who will help others reach their fullest potential, and we are substantially engaged in the many dimensions of academic learning, comprehensive research, technology design, and rigorous clinical training.

We have made a particular commitment to address rehabilitation and disabilities. Our approaches to education and research encompass serving, advocating for, and treating “… those who are in the dawn of life – the children, those who are in the twilight of life – the elderly, and those who are in the shadows of life – the sick, the needy, and the ‘handicapped’. "*

Some students come to us to pursue degrees that lead to professional certification and licensing. Others come here to lay the foundation for a career in academic research or innovative product design. Our close working relationship with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, as well as research labs and clinics throughout the University, means that our students have unique opportunities to learn, grow and contribute.

Whatever your goal, we promise you the challenge and satisfaction of earning a degree that puts you in the forefront of your field.

A Diverse Community

SHRS, together with the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, is a diverse community of students, staff, teachers, researchers, and clinicians who teach and learn from each other. We have a sense of mutual value. We shall strive to do our best and then, to do even better, for ourselves, our colleagues, and for those we serve.
