Brighton & Hove Albion boss Gus Poyet was celebrating today after winning the September npower League 1 Manager of the Month award.

Poyet's side have charged to the top of the table following a great month which saw them pick up 13 points out of a possible 15. The Seagulls have picked up some great results along the way including a 2-0 away victory at Plymouth Argyle and a last-gap win against Oldham Athletic.

Alan Curbishley, Chairman of the npower Manager of the Month awards panel commented: "Gus Poyet is building on last season's good work at the Withdean Stadium. Brighton & Hove Albion have been fantastic in an unbeaten month that has taken them to the top of the npower League 1 table."

Poyet saw off competition from Rochdale boss Keith Hill, Exeter City Manager Paul Tisdale and AFC Bournemouth's Eddie Howe.

The Brighton & Hove Albion boss was presented with the npower League 1 Manager of the Month award at the Club's training ground, and will show off the trophy to fans at Saturday's home fixture against AFC Bournemouth.
