USAID’s agriculture program improves food security, increases agricultural productivity and rural employment, and improves family incomes and well-being.

USAID’s Democracy and Governance program supports the establishment of a broadly accepted national government to promote national unity and effectively serve the needs of the Afghan people.

USAID’s education strategy is designed to support basic education, higher education, and literacy combined with productive skills training for out of school youth and adults.
Through USAID programs, more than 9.3 million people in 13 provinces have gained better access annually to quality health care.
The building and refurbishing of infrastructure boosts economic growth and agricultural yields, connects rural Afghans to services, and provides schools, clinics, and courthouses for its citizens.
USAID is working with the Government of Afghanistan to strengthen the central government's reach and legitimacy in outlying regions.
