Another Ridiculously Large Post Of Rarities, This Time From bobdylan.com (1997-2004)
96 Songs, Nearly 9 Hours Of Rare Bob
(Courtesy Of Dylan Himself)
A complete collection of tracks officially released on bobdylan.com (via Croz-FM) from 1997 to 2004. During Dylan's never-ending tour, Bob's website posted free downloads from numerous tour stops along the way, including a few curios and oddities. Here they are, in order of release. If you're a fan, you'll know what to expect... some strange song selections and some bizarre arrangements of classic material. You'll also find recordings from Dylan's 1963 Carnegie Hall show, unreleased outtakes from The Basement Tapes, a few songs that would later surface on Bootleg Series CDs and even a handful of tracks duplicated from our 206 song post (now up to 217) of Non-LP Bob. But, the majority are raw road recordings, lengthy (in the 5-6, up to 9-10 minute range) with some of it barely above bootleg quality - additionally complicated by the growing raspiness of Bob's voice and the license he takes with his own melodies. It's not necessarily his best work, but it is now among his rarest officially released work. Still... aren't you curious to hear Dylan's 2002 version of George Harrison's "Something," recorded at Madison Square Garden - the site of The Concert For Bangla Desh. Links in Comments

Another tremendous post, Willard. I remember listening to quite a few of these back in the day and kicking myself for not saving any to my hard drive. Thanks for letting me hear them all again.
And a big thank you from me as well. these Bob posts are fantastic. Now, if you can just post some Beatles at the Cavern Club, I would be very happy.

Many thanks for commenting.
Thanks for all your work on this. I missed these the first time around.
Thanks for these! Happy that you are still 'alive' on-line. Blogs are disappearing daily on blogspot; the industry is really cracking down on sites like this! Good luck against the powers that be. Dylan's music is timeless and thanks to people like you it can be shared beyond the bounds of the so-called 'music industry'.
Amazing post, thanks.
Do you know if they ever released anymore of these?
Unfortunately, they've stopped giving tracks away on a regular basis.
From Johnny Kinkdom: Stumbled across your blog today and really love it's content. Thanks, especially, for this post which let's me complete my collection of these interesting pieces to the BD puzzle. Saw several of these shows in the NYC area. The master is always up to something interesting!

Wow, great stuff. Thanks.
Regarding these TWO phenomenal Dylan gifts: Since words are not adequate to show my gratitude, (and in the words of Rocket J. Squirrel), "now here's something you'll REALLY like"--, (...for Willard):
Question- If a truly wise man throws a rock directly at the truth, WHERE DOES IT LAND???
Answer- Back in his own hand!!!
