The Capital Region Airport Authority Board has again elected Chris Holman of Mason to serve as Chair and Paul Hufnagel of Lansing to serve as Vice Chair.  The Capital Region Airport Authority is governed by a six-member board that oversees the operation of the Capital Region International Airport in Lansing, and Mason Jewett Field in Mason.

Chris Holman has served as board Chair since 2008.  Mr. Holman is the publisher of The Greater Lansing Business Monthly, a popular Lansing area business magazine.  Holman recently served as the Small Business Advocate for the State of Michigan, appointed by Governor Jennifer Granholm.  Holman began his professional career as a teacher and later coach, athletic director, and assistant principal at Hartland Community Schools.

"I am honored to be appointed Chair of the Capital Region Airport Authority Board," said Holman.  "This is a very challenging time in the history of the airport, and I look forward to working with other members of this outstanding board."

Paul Hufnagel will also serve another term as board Vice Chair, and has served on the airport authority since January 1999, including serving two terms as Chair from 2000-2002 and 2006-2008.  Mr. Hufnagel is currently a district vice president of the IAFF - International Association of Fire Fighters, and has served as president of the Michigan Professional Fire Fighters Union.  Hufnagel has served as president of the Greater Lansing Labor Council, AFL-CIO.  Hufnagel retired in 1998 as a battalion chief after 27 years with the Lansing Fire Department, and has been a licensed private pilot since 1975.

The Capital Region Airport Authority was created in 1970 pursuant to Act No. 73 of the Public Acts of Michigan.  From 1929 until 1971, Capital City Airport was owned and operated by the State of Michigan and governed by the Michigan Aeronautics Commission.  A regional airport authority was created in 1971 between the City of Lansing and Ingham County to govern the airport, which officially became known as the Capital Region International Airport in May 2008.  The Airport Authority Board consists of three voting members appointed by the Mayor of the City of Lansing and confirmed by the City Council, and three voting members appointed by the Ingham County Board of Commissioners.
