It’s hard to think of a time when criminals didn’t operate in gangs, but Prohibition in America was the catalyst that ushered in a new era of organised crime in the modern age. The term gangster conjures up the iconic image of a shadowy figure in a sharp suit, Trilby hat and carrying a Tommy gun—and the name we think of is old Scarface himself, Al Capone.

On the evening of March 24th, 1944, 76 airmen broke out of German POW Camp, Stalag Luft III, in a desperate bid for freedom. It was the most famous escape of World War II—it was also a complete disaster. Of the 76 escapees, all were recaptured, and 50 were murdered in cold blood. The murders were immediately covered up by the Gestapo, knowing that if the Allies won the war, they would seek out those responsible for the slaughter. They were right. This is the story of the dedicated RAF Special Investigation team's painstaking mission to track down the killers and bring them to justice.

Great Escape "Revenge on the Gestapo" premieres Monday, October 25th at 10P et/pt.

Video Preview: "Futility of War" — Two escapees from a German POW camp attempt to cover ground on foot - only to be picked up days later.

Some 60 years after it was sunk by the British Navy, an international team will travel nearly 5,000 meters into the depths of the Atlantic Ocean—to the final resting place of the infamous Nazi supership: The Battleship Bismarck—the supposedly unsinkable vessel whose name once instilled fear and spelled certain doom to any that dared cross it's path.

The research team is joined by two German veterans of the Bismarck, who were among the few 116 survivors out of 2,200 crewmen. It is an emotional journey for the men who must once again visit the site of the most traumatic moment of their lives.

"Nazi Supership" premieres Monday, October 25th at 9P et/pt.

Video Preview: "Battleship Inferno" — In their determination to destroy the Bismarck, British ships continued to fire on the Nazi warship long after it was defeated.

Inside the Milky Way is about you, me, and the history of two hundred billion stars. Our solar system lies on the outskirts of a vast celestial city, a colossal community of stars, bound together by gravity: the Milky Way Galaxy. Today, astronomers are piecing together evidence, allowing us to see our galaxy in a new and exciting way. We are able to take the Earth on an incredible journey through space and time to see how different neighbourhoods of our vast star city would appear if we could visit them close up. Inside the Milky Way tells the story of our galaxy in a clear, dynamic, and exciting way—giving an incredible insight into how it, and everything within it, came to be.

"Inside the Milky Way" premieres Sunday, October 24th at 9P et/pt.

Video Preview: "What Galaxies are Made Of"
    — The brilliant clouds of color in the Milky Way do more than just inspire awe—they help astronomers decipher the galaxy.

The Shiyane pack of wild dogs dwells in Africa's Imfolozi Game Reserve. The pack must work together to ward off predators, defend their young, and make sure every pack-member gets fed. The cooperation and allegiance exhibited in the group hunt is fundamental to the Shiyane pack's survival. If the Shiyane pack expands, a few dogs will likely splinter off and mix into new packs, improving genetic diversity and strengthening the entire species.

The Pack "Wild Dogs" premieres Friday, October 22nd at 9P et/pt.

Video Preview: "Hyenas Hunting Puppies" — This wild dog pack defends some of the cutest puppies you'll ever see against prowling hyenas.

Stonehenge has always been shrouded in mystery. This circle of standing stones in Southern England has mystified scholars through the ages and has given birth to a thousand theories. The tricky thing about Stonehenge is that one question leads to a dozen more. If you ask how they moved those huge rocks from Wales, then you have to wonder who it was that moved them and what was so special about these particular stones and so on into infinity and beyond.

During our stay in Salt Lake City our story looked more like a page from Mad Libs than a script for an engineering series. Riley drives a snowmobile to go feed a zebra, then installs a 140-foot skywalk bridge, blows up a minivan to relieve some stress, and ends the week watching a NBA game with the crew of Jacobsen, SME Steel and Mountain Crane. Except this isn’t Mad Libs… it’s life on the road for the crew of WTF.
