33. Jack, all that Monster Mash stuff sucks. That's tame stuff. The long list of metal songs above are the way to go. Some of the songs listed are tame, such as Thriller, Mr. Sandman, Bitches Crystal, Black Magic Woman, Lazy Lane material, etc., but they were thrown in because they're far better than Monster Mash. Monster Mash is for little kids. Metal songs are for when you want some dark and evil stuff, which is what Halloween is all about. All the metal songs listed are extremely popular and are played on the radio. You must be under a rock.

45. We need to cast a wider net here. No contemporary song could beat the centuries-old traditional Celtic ballads dealing with themes of Magick. They are grounded in authentic Pagan religious practices and seasonal observances, not some modern commercial ripoff version of the holiday. One example whose climactic scene actually takes place on Halloween is "Tam Lin," about a a spunky young woman named Janet who falls in love with a knight who has been held captive for 7 years by the Queen of Faerie. In order to rescue Tam Lin from becoming a human sacrifice, Janet has to pull him down off his horse during the Faerie Rade that takes place on Samhain, then hang onto him while the Queen turns him successively into a newt, an adder, a bear, a lion & a burning coal. Fairport Convention did a great version of it on "Liege & Lief" (1969), which was recently voted the Greatest Folk-Rock Album of All Time by the British music press.
