Natacha Atlas
Makaan - MounqualibaInternationally acclaimed singer Natacha Atlas has been working on the subtle beauty of her 9th album Mounqualiba ever since 2008's internationally acclaimed acoustic, orchestral album Ana Hina. The album which was recording in southeast London finds Atlas continuing through her journey of fusion between Western and Arabic strings and arrangements. Electronics do factor into the sound design of the album a bit more than on Ana Hina. The album includes field recordings from around the worlds and six cinematic interludes. "In her own words the album has a modern feel without losing its Arabic identity. So for me it truly is a concept album, it's not something I've ever done before."
