Women Cancel Tour After Clashing Onstage

Band "exhausted and in need of a break from touring," according to manager.

Women Cancel Tour After Clashing Onstage

On Friday, October 29, Calgary indie rockers Women played a contentious gig at Victoria, British Columbia's Lucky Bar. According to Exclaim, intra-band punches were thrown, and guitarist/vocalist Chris Reimer announced it was their "last show as a band." A witness told Exclaim, "[Singer/guitarist] Pat [Flegel] started throwing punches at his brother [bassist/vocalist Matthew Flegel] during their set-up and soundcheck. Full on 'break it up' brawl between the brothers."

The Feelies Plan First Album in Two Decades

The Feelies Plan First Album in Two Decades

Fans of ancestral indie rock, get excited. In 2008, New Jersey postpunk pioneers the Feelies reunited to play a few shows and reissued their classic out-of-print albums. They must've liked the way things went, since they're now getting ready to release a new album, their first since 1991's Time for a Witness.

When Deerhunter played Portland's Wonder Ballroom last night, frontman Bradford Cox broke out an acoustic guitar, and the band played a faithful cover of Scott Walker's 1969 classic "30 Century Man". Not too many people in indie rock are brave enough to take on a singer as iconic and distinctive as Walker, but Cox is nothing if not brave.

Clumsy342 filmed the performance, with crisp audio and nice black-and-white visuals. Watch it below.

Fang Island ft. Andrew W.K.: "Patterns on the Wall"

MP3: Fang Island: "Patterns on the Wall [ft. Andrew W.K.]"

Earlier this year, Fang Island released a BNM'ed self-titled album full of triumphant endorphin-rush guitar rock. On their cover of Joe Buzzell's "Patterns on the Wall", the track above, they've recruited party rock overlord Andrew W.K. (who knows a thing or two about endorphin-rush guitar rock) to add some wailing.
