Amari Morgan-Smith has been voted the latest E.ON Player of the Round after his hat-trick helped Luton Town defeat St Albans City 4-0 to book The Hatters a place in The FA Cup Proper. The striker opened the scoring on 23 minutes after the visiting ‘keeper, Paul Bastock, failed to deal with Claude Gnakpa’s right-wing cross, allowing Morgan-Smith to steer home from eight yards.Danny Crow doubled the advantage just after the half-hour mark and Morgan-Smith grabbed his second on 38, heading home another cross from the right, this time from Matthew Barnes-Horner.The treble was completed in exquisite style with just six minutes remaining as the 21-year-old produced a delightful chip which had Bastock beaten all ends up and sealed Luton’s place in the First Round Proper, where they will travel to Corby Town.Morgan-Smith claimed 40 per cent of the public vote ahead of Harrow Borough’s Try Hewitt (31 per cent), Cambridge United’s Simon Russell (12 per cent), Darlington’s Marc Bridge-Wilkinson (nine per cent) and Corby’s Nathan Jarman (eight per cent).Morgan-Smith will receive an E.ON Player of the Round trophy and two VIP tickets to this season's FA Cup Final which will take place at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 14 May 2011.
