It appears that Carmelo Anthony's days with the Denver Nuggets will end sooner than later (David Zalubowski/Associated Press)

It looks like the relationship between Carmelo Anthony and the Denver Nuggets is beyond repair.

That’s according to Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski, who writes that Anthony’s representatives have told Nuggets brass to go ahead and trade their client.

Here’s the important part of the story: Denver is looking for young players and draft picks, and it appears that the New Jersey Nets and the Los Angeles Clippers as the “two most probable destinations” for Anthony because the teams have good young players to offer. Wojnarowski also mentions the Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets and the Charlotte Bobcats as possibilities.

Notice that the Orlando Magic were not mentioned as a contender.

Wojnarowski’s piece occupies the second spot in our NBA links for this morning.

Here we go:

Just how much criticism should the Big Three from this summer’s free-agent class receive?

That’s the question raised by two of the stories that appear in this morning’s NBA links.

Chris Bosh responded to comments by Toronto Raptors General Manager Bryan Colangelo, who said that Bosh basically gave up toward the end of the Raptors’ 2009-10 season. Meanwhile, the New Jersey Nets’ new owner, Mikhail Prokhorov, wrote a letter to USA Today saying that he supports LeBron James and the other major free agents.

There was no time, at any time, that I ever stepped on the court — in my NBA career, in my life — and stop playing hard or give up.”

2. Roundup: NBA team owner backs LeBron James’ decision, USA Today, Mikhail Prokhorov

WASHINGTON, D.C. — After everything the Wizards (21-42) have gone through this season, what’s a back-to-back-to-back?

The Magic will face an exhausted team tonight at the Verizon Center — a team that could give their starters another opportunity to get some rest. That’s a side benefit of blowing out teams, as Orlando has done four times out of six games in March.

Now they face the Wizards, a team in last place in the Southeast Division, 13th in the Eastern Concerence, playing their third game in as many days.

“It really does help because once the playoffs start there’s no rest, no off days,” Magic forward Rashard Lewis said. “You’re either watching film or doing some type of preparation and you’re playing very, very hard so your body’s beat up.”

Meanwhile, Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade had an entertaining showdown last night in Miami.

Let’s get to the links:

1. Historically bad sports teams, like the New Jersey Nets, can make light of their plight later, Orlando Sentinel, Tania Ganguli
The Buzz: The Nets own a 6-54 record. If they go 2-20 or worse over the remainder of the NBA season, they will set a new mark for the worst record in league history. The 1972-73 Philadelphia 76ers went 9-73.

2. Orlando Magic notebook: Dwight Howard believes he’s found the formula to slow down Brook Lopez, Orlando Sentinel, Josh Robbins
The Buzz: Howard has dominated Lopez this season even though Lopez is widely considered one of the NBA’s top young centers. What’s Howard’s plan?
