(Newser) – The "virtual strip search" images taken by airport body scanners, which federal agencies have long insisted can't and won't be stored, have been stored in the tens of thousands. The US Marshals service has admitted that over 30,000 of the über-revealing images were stored at a single courthouse, CNET reports. The machines will soon be in use at almost every major US airport, according to Homeland Security.

The TSA claimed last year that the machines cannot store nor transmit the images, but officials later admitted that the agency required manufacturers to include those functions for "testing, training, and evaluation purposes." The Electronic Privacy Information Center has filed a lawsuit, demanding a federal judge pull the plug on the TSA's scanning program. "This is the Department of Homeland Security subjecting every US traveler to an intrusive search that can be recorded without any suspicion," the group's director says. "It's outrageous."

Big Whoop! What did you expect? If you're waving goodbye to your civil rights as you carry your shoes in one of the endless airport lines while being treated like retarded cattle what's a few dirty pics? Of all the things to complain about regarding airport security, this is waaaaaaaay down the list of concerns. Besides, if you don't like the scans and want to be treated better than everybody else, JUST SAY YOUR MUSLIM! It works, it really really does! (lmaorotf)

Body scans should in the end make air travel safer -- let's just fix this and move on. Anyone that wants to make a mountain out of this mole hill is just plain retah-ded. As far as the government -- figure out who was responsible for this stupid blunder abt saving the body scan data fire them and just move on. If you were to compare the cast of characters in this administration versus Team Darth Vader, captained by Dick Chaney and Alberto Gonzales you tell me which team was the more calculated and abuser of constitutional rights. We live in a world where it is harder and harder to hideout in the "Grey Area" -- think the Eisenhower Admin didn't operate with "Executive Privilege"?? -- just that today it's harder to get away with it. Why not tally up which party dominated the Executive Office of the Fed Gov over the past 50 years. Nixon -- Watergate Ford -- Pardons Nixon as a deal to accept the Presidency Reagan -- Iran-Contra Affair Bush I - Invaded Iraq over a border skirmish with a neighboring sovereign govt. Bush Jr - under brainwashing by the Cheney White House -- we went to war in Iraq based on fictitious intelligence -- also under pressure from Cheney and Gonzales we disregarded the Geneva Convention and tortured our captives. Now where were we -- oh right! -- we were talking abt bungling 30-k body scan images. A little perspective never hurt anyone. And you wanna believe a Momma Grizzly can spell the word Constitution?? She'll be the first one to tell us that a Momma Grizzly donlt need no Constitution to do the right thing -- she just knows -- F-LOL
