Subscribe? RSS? Huh?

What is RSS?
As described by Wikipedia: RSS is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated content such as blog entries, news headlines or podcasts. An RSS document, which is called a "feed," "web feed," or "channel," contains either a summary of content from an associated web site or the full text. RSS makes it possible for people to keep up with their favorite web sites in an automated manner that's easier than checking them manually.

What's the big deal?
Get your news first!
The big advantage of RSS subscribing is that you can get notices of news any way you like. Windows Vista actually has an RSS subscription system already built in. Just click the big RSS logo above and tell Vista you want to subscribe. You can even adjust the frequency of how often you get updates by right clicking the subscription and selecting properties.

Can I customize my updates for my favorite game?
Yes! You sure can.
If you are looking for any particular game just search for it on Shacknews. At the top of every news item you will see a list of tags for that particular game. Just click the tag of your favorite game and there will be an option to subscribe to the RSS for that game.
