Update since Election Day

Saturday, November 13, 2010
On Election Day we stood together to put an end to the Obama-Pelosi liberal agenda. The road to doing so was challenging, but we stood strong.  Now, the real work of restoring conservatism to governance and creating real Mississippi jobs has begun.

Since Election Day I have stayed busy. I’ve been meeting with business leaders to better understand their needs to create jobs as well as meeting with local political leaders to learn how I can solve their needs in Congress.  I’ve also dedicated a large portion of my time to attending events across the district and staying visible.

Yesterday, I was honored to attend several Veterans Day ceremonies. In Wiggins, I spoke to a crowd of patriots who gathered to watch the unveiling of the Medal of Honor monument. It is my understanding that this is the only such monument in the country and it honors those Mississippians who have earned our nation’s highest military honor.

To be an effective Member of Congress, I must also build a top class Congressional staff. We have been interviewing and placing team members. In the coming weeks, we will announce our complete Congressional staff. They will make you proud.

On Sunday, I will depart for Freshman Orientation. While at orientation, I will meet my incoming colleagues, but I will also request my committee assignments. The military is the lifeblood of South Mississippi both economically and culturally.  As such, I am actively seeking a position on the House Armed Services Committee. On the committee, I will be a champion for military and veteran issues. I am also requesting to be placed on several other committees that will directly benefit South Mississippi.

I want to again thank you for giving me the opportunity to be your voice in Washington, D.C. In 2010, we proved that South Mississippi does matter. I intend to take our voice and shout it loudly to the Washington, D.C. bureaucrats and politicians to make sure they know that we want legislation reflective of true conservatism. I will make you proud. Thank you for the opportunity to serve.

Respectfully,

It's Because of You

Friends -

We made history last night. Together, we did the unthinkable.

So today I want to say thank you. Thank you to my family for your unwavering support. Thank you to my campaign staff and volunteers. Without the army of volunteers, we would not have been able to seize the moment. Thank you to all of my supporters for standing with me in our fight to put our South Mississippi values back in Washington. Thank you for believing in me and thank you for trusting in me. I will not let you down.

The battle we have won, but the war continues on. I will continue to defend Mississippi from from job-killing policies and higher taxes. I will fight for job creation, and less government spending. The promises I made throughout my campaign will not change. I will be the voice for South Mississippi in Washington that you have asked me to be. We have many challenges ahead of us. We will meet these challenges, and we will move Mississippi forward, together.

Thank you again for all of your hard work and prayers. We did this together, and together we will get South Mississippi back on the right track. I will be your Congressman, and I'm looking forward to staying in touch in towns and communities throughout the 4th District.

Warm Regards,

Steven Palazzo

GO VOTE

Tuesday, November 02, 2010
For two years we have been waiting for this moment, Election Day. We’ve spent the past two years frustrated by the Obama-Pelosi government. And we’ve worked furiously to finally put an end to their policies that threaten the future of our country. Now, we have only one last thing to do. GO VOTE! And call all your friends, family and neighbors to also go vote! The polls are opened at 7:00 AM and will remain open until 7 PM.

Today we have a clear choice for the future of South Mississippi. I will vote for tax cuts and work on a conservative team that will promote job creation policies and protect Mississippi values, the free market, a smart energy policy, insurance reform, and cut debt and deficit spending. My opponent admits he opposes tax cuts, admits he voted for billions in bailout, and his liberal team led by Nancy Pelosi brought us Obamacare, cap and trade, no insurance reform, and the failed $1 trillion stimulus plan that did nothing to stem the tide of unemployment growth.  Under my opponent, we’ll only get more liberal policies that threaten to derail our country, but I believe there is a better way forward and that’s the conservative way.

I want to thank our team of hundreds of volunteers who have knocked on thirty thousand homes and made thousands of personal calls to help this campaign, and I want to thank each person who has supported this campaign and entrusted me with their vote. We have an opportunity to change the direction of our country and elect a conservative congress.  When we vote, we give our voice to our Congressman.  My opponent gave our vote, gave our voice to Nancy Pelosi, a San Francisco liberal who doesn’t care about our South Mississippi values.

There is a better way. South Mississippi trusts I will use my voice and vote in Washington to promote conservative policies, and I will take my small business experience to reduce the taxation, regulation, and litigation that kills jobs. I will be an effective member of the conservative team and represent South Mississippi with every vote.

Thank you,

Steven
