Civil Unions--Vote Soon?

Dear Friends,

We have never had a bill that was so destructive to the family as the Civil Unions Bill (SB 1716). It is God who has ordained that marriage should be between a man and a woman, so that children could be born into a family structure with a father and a mother, so they could be brought up in a home where there could be love and bibilical order. Does that always happen? No! But the further we move away from the principles established by God, the more destructive legislation will be to society.

SB 1716 is on third reading in the House and could come up for a vote at any time. There are still legislators who are sitting on the fence, not telling either side which way they will vote on this bill. That is why we are asking you, their constituents, to call their offices and ask them to vote NO on SB 1716, and to ask which way they intend to vote on this issue. Some of you have responded in the past and it has been extremely helpful. Your input to us on your legislators' responses will be a tremendous help, so we can make sure we focus on working with legislators who need to understand what this legislation will do.

This legislation is the next step on the homosexual agenda to move toward same-sex marriage. While it is called Civl Unions, it is really marriage by another name, with all the rights and responsibilities of spouses being given to the "civil union partner." If this legislation passes, it will be used in a lawsuit, along with the equal protection clause of the constitution, to say that it is discrimination--all the rights and responsibilities of marriage are there, but it is not called marriage. That is what happened in California before Proposition 8! We cannot let this happen in Illinois.

Plan of Action:

Pray--for kings and authorities that we may live a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

Call your legislators and ask where they will be on SB 1716. Let them know that you oppose it.
