Youth News – Important Reminders

The December system meeting originally scheduled for December 3rd was canceled sometime ago, but just in case you missed it – there is no December System Meeting.

December 1, 2009 is the first order deadline for your Highsmith Summer Reading orders. To get the best selection, this is the best deadline to meet.

Please do not order certificates as Janway will have certificates, signed by the State Librarian, Bernie Margolis, available for you to purchase.  I will coordinate this order so that you won’t have to pay shipping.  Janway now has a $10 fee on all orders under $75, so I’m happy to take orders for other Janway products with your certificate orders. More information will follow soon.

I will be on vacation from November 23 through December 2.  I will return to the office on Thursday, December 3.

·         LINDA BEINS, ILL/Reference Coordinator

Linda will be out of the office on November 23 – 25 and December 7-11.

We will be closed for Thanksgiving on November 26-27.

*** DELIVERY – Forward Sorting on the Southern Route to begin on January 11, 2010 ***

What is it?    Materials going to libraries scheduled for a later stop on the same daily route are dropped off directly at the destination library.

Goal:              Improve Efficiency of Intra-library system delivery

Objectives:   Reduce time to fill hold requests.
Reduce volume of material to be unloaded & sorted at FLLS.

General Procedures: Each library will separate out those items that are to be delivered to libraries that receive a delivery later in the route according to the daily schedule. Libraries will group the items together with the destination marked and the driver will place them in the appropriate bag.
