Military Ties Prepared Taj for Ball

Taj McWilliams-Franklin's strong ties to the military prepared her for a career in basketball. Not only did her parents serve throughout her childhood and teenage years, but Taj's husband Reggie is also a veteran of the army. Having traveled throughout most of her life, Taj says the constant travel helped prepare her for a life of basketball.

Appel Taking Time to Heal

Jayne Appel transitioned into the WNBA slower than most, as she was forced to rehab from a fractured foot and ankle sprain sustained in her final year at Stanford. After making her debut and winning gold with USA Basketball in the 2010 FIBA World Championship, Appel is now taking time to heal with the hopes of making a full return in 2011.
