The sun rises in the new millennium. And, with it brings one of the most fascinating crafts events of the country. The Surajkund Crafts Mela opens just 8 km from south Delhi.

Once shopping is over, it is time to move to the eating area. South India dishes, Chinese noodles, spiced rice, snacks and coconut water, tea, coffee, ice-cream and cold drinks have special corners.

Pick objects of rare beauty !

Shops at the Mela bustle with the brilliance of mirror encasing embroidery, delicate lace work, folk motifs on terracotta forms, metal and cane-ware, the tinkle of bangles, shimmer of iridescent silks and the jingle of toys and trinkets.

How to reach !

Surajkund is 8 k.m. from South Delhi. Special transport fleet link to Mela ground to major bus stops in the national Capital Delhi, Gurgaon and Faridabad towns. The Mela begins from 9.30 a.m. and closes at 5.30 p.m. each evening from 1st to 15th February every year. Explore the heart of rural India.

 

Sway with the rhythms of folk music & dance !

The Surajkund Crafts Mela is more than a celebration of crafts. At the fan shaped open-air-theatre name 'Natyashala' rich folk dances and musical evenings are held throughout the mela fortnight. Day performers delight within the Mela grounds the whole day.
