Default The Anti-Otaku: A Double Shot Key Filco
This article is an Island. It cannot be linked to using wiki BB-codes.
Sometimes you want Blank, sometimes you want Bold.

When posting the Das vs Filco review there was a lot of ragging on the Filco keywear in the thread. You can always buy Otaku or just buy a set of blanks and replace them. Or... get double shot keys and although they may someday get shiny you don't ever have to worry about the letters wearing off. I thought it would be fun to try Double Shot keys and see what it looks like, what they feel like, and if the high pitched sound changes. In this post you'll see that the sound does change and IMHO the feel is better. The looks - well, that depends on just how Otaku you are.....

There have been conflicting reports on the compatibility of Cherry Corp keys fitting on Filcos. So I gave it a try with a $18 Ebay Cherry Keyboard G81-7000HPBUS-2. H is for "High Quality" and I believe that always translates to Double Shot keys. You dont see them often especially in the US but they are on these POS boards.

Not too fond of the G81 keyswitches (did I say POS?) but I like dem double shot keys.

MY Switch. Spring pushes metal leaf pushes contact on membrane. Like "typing on wet newspapers" is how Xsphat describes it.

Niiiiiice keys.

Hey, ONE key isn't Double Shot. I want my money back!

There WILL be a math test later so pay attention.

CONTINUES IN THE DISCUSSION SECTION......
