What the hell? Blizzard theme park 'Joyland' for China? screenshot

Never would I have combined the two random thoughts to come up with the idea of a Blizzard-themed theme park. It doesn't quite compute in my head, but the more I think about it, the more I like it. Of course, if there was to be a Blizzard theme park, it would have to be somewhere in Asia.

How about the Wunjin district, and how about an opening date of March 2011. We're not sure of how much truth there is behind a rumor posted by French website GameBlog, but the details and concept images they've posted sound great.

Through a translation at G4 we learn that park will allegedly be divided into separate parts, including Island of Mystery, Terrain of Warcraft, Universe of StarCraft (seen above), World of Legend and the cute looking Moles world. There's also plans for a videogame museum and a e-sports center. As for rides, expect three coasters, a simulator and a free-fall tower. The only thing that sucks about this place is the name: Joyland. It's like they ran out of imagination at the naming process.

Mortal Kombat films on Blu-ray come with MK PS3 costume screenshot

Before the live-action Mortal Kombat short film that got dormant fans jazzed up about the series again, there was Man Island. And what a glorious island it was.

Mortal Kombat (2011) hits store shelves on April 19 in North America, and on the very same day, Mortal Kombat (the film) and MK: Annihilation are releasing on Blu-ray. If you pick up either movie, you'll get a redeemable code for an exclusive Jade character costume for the PlayStation 3 version of the game.

Nothing in this world has prepared you for this kind of free movie throw-in. I know all of my expectations have been destroyed.

Sony is out to get anyone that posts the PS3 hack screenshot

Sony out to sue anyone that actually distributes the PS3 hack? Sure, that makes sense. They need to cover their ass. Right now they're in the process of trying to bust hacker George Hotz, the guy who actually first shared the finished PS3 jailbreak with the world. There's some crazy demands from Sony in the pre-trial discovery process; they're out to get anyone involved.

Get this: Sony wants Google to surrender the IP addresses of of those that viewed or even commented on the jailbreak video featured on a private YouTube page. Sony is also asking Twitter to give up the identity of some users that first tweeted about a limited version of the hack back in December. They really want the names of this "failOverflow hacking team."

Meanwhile, Sony is gearing up to go against Hotz. The hacker has been ordered to pull down his hack instructions; Hotz did. Threat Level says that he is also supposed to surrender all of his computer gear to Sony this Thursday but his attorney is working hard to make sure that doesn't happen.

The Destructoid Show is weirder than usual tonight screenshot

Hey gang! If you've got reflexes like a hawk, you might have caught my post of tonights episode of The Destructoid Show. Unfortunately, there was some sort of horrible chemical explosion in the studio, and as a result, the audio is all out of whack.

Okay, I lied. There was no chemical explosion. But still, things got messed up. We love you, and we want you to know we're okay, and we'll get this sorted out tomorrow. There's tuna casserole in the fridge.

Max & Tara

Knights Contract concept art will make you hot screenshot

Hey, fellas, you like the dames, right?

Well, I dug up some pretty awesome concept art for Knights Contract, and as near as I can tell, these creatures are all female. So, without further ado, I give you Holda, Rapunzel, and the voluptuous Trendula modeling the fabulous Knights Contract spring collection.

Seriously, though -- as a former illustration major, I always get a kick out of concept art. It gives you a chance to see where a design came from. It's sort of like meeting someone's parents and seeing how they have their mom's eyes, but their father's horrible personality.

I think you and I will both agree, dear reader, that boundaries are sometimes a good thing in everyday life. When you’re small, boundaries are imposed to keep you safe. In school, there are boundaries on when you can and can’t fool around (usually broken, but that’s why you ended up in the principal’s office [...]

But wait! There's more. Read it here.

Crisis Averted? Yakuza 4 UK special edition vs US version screenshot

Earlier this morning we pointed you to a UK retailer's posting of what would be inside their Yakuza 4 special edition release, which it seems like U.S. based gamers won't be getting. Some were concerned that we'd miss out on all those special costumes and DLC areas. Since then we've received information that let's us compare their fancy release with ours. Check it out:

Today we can confirm that the U.S. version will include codes for the following items:

  • Bonus costumes for Kazuma, Akiyama, Taiga, Tanimura, and Haruka
  • Survival Mode
  • Underground car park racing
  • The underground Fighting Arena

In other words, no worries. We're getting all the same stuff they are, minus the shiny black metal box. And if you consider the GameStop pre-order bonus Dynamic Hostess PSN theme, we're about on the same page.

Know that these content codes are one-time use only -- a heads up to used game buyers.

MLB 11 'Yankee Killer' trailer has revisionist history screenshot

Sony has just released a new trailer for MLB 11 The Show, and this one features Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer, who is on the cover of the game for the second year in a row. I wasn't aware that Mauer's performance against my favorite baseball team had earned him the name "Yankee Killer," but apparently, that's what SCE San Diego has dubbed him. In the two-minute clip, Mauer drills an 0-2 C.C. Sabathia pitch down the left-field line at Yankee Stadium for a two-run double, putting the Twins ahead by one.

Of course, the trailer obviously doesn't take the 2010 American League Division Series into account. In a three-game sweep by the Yankees, Mauer went 3-for-12 with a walk, no runs scored, no extra-base hits, and three strikeouts. It wasn't Mauer who "killed" the Yankees in the playoffs last year, but the pitching staff of the Texas Rangers.

Oh, right -- videogames! Sony's MLB 11 The Show will be out on March 8th, just four weeks from tomorrow, for PS3, PSP, and PS2. I'll be posting a hands-on preview of the game very soon.

Plushtoid has arrived! screenshot

[Awesome community member, forum moderator, and toy designer/creator Zodiac Eclipse has made these incredible plush Mr. Destructoid heads! If you want one (or any of the other awesome toys she and her husband create), head on over to her store's website and check them out! -- JRo]

Greetings community! As most of you are aware I'm "officially" a stay-at-home mom (insert motherhood jokes here), but as only a few of you know I also run a home business on the side making and selling handmade toys. Christmas was mighty busy at the Eclipse Household, but now that we've put the mad rush behind us I finally have time to sit down and make things for fun again. Here's where you guys come in.

I'd like to introduce you to Plushtoid, a cuddly soft stuffed version of our beloved Destructoid helmet. Plushtoid is about 4.25 inches on all sides and completely handmade by me from fleece with felt details. I've got a handful of these ready to go with more on the way if enough people are interested.

You can order one today over at my business site Story Builder Toys for $15 plus shipping. Before anyone gets out their pitchfork, yes I will ship worldwide so long as the buyer assumes responsibility for all shipping and postal fees. I really just want to get as many of these out to Dtoiders as possible as a way of doing something fun for the community that has done so much for me.

Special thanks to Mix for giving me the idea and super special thanks to Niero for letting me use his mascot to pimp my plushie skills. Much love guys!
