Having had to deal with a firestorm of controversy when she came to the recast role of Carly Benson Quartermaine Corinthos in 2001, Tamara Braun has since become a force of nature all her own. Though viewers initially balked at the recasting of a role originated by critically acclaimed actress Sarah Brown, they soon grew to love and embrace Braun's multilayered take on the wily Carly. (Ironically enough, Braun actually thought she was auditioning for the recast role of Sarah Webber when she first came to GH!)

Born and raised in Evanston, IL, Braun got involved in acting during high school and went on to study at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London for a summer session. She moved from Chicago to L.A. in 1995 and eventually landed guest-starring roles on such prime-time shows as BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, 7TH HEAVEN and THE PRETENDER. She also snagged parts in the 1997 film Soul Food and the 1998 indie hit The Opposite Of Sex (alas, her part in that flick ended up on the cutting-room floor). Just two years ago, Braun answered the casting call at GH for the role of "Sarah" (a code name used by the casting department so as not to tip off anyone that it was actually a Carly recast they were searching for), and the rest is P.C. history! In 2005, Braun called it quits from GH. After departing she appeared on a number of prime-time shows such as HOUSE M.D., COLD CASE, GHOST WHISPERER and CSI. The actress also had a role in the 2006 indie film Little Chenier, which will be available on DVD in July. She returned to daytime in February 2008 to DAYS OF OUR LIVES for the short-term role of psycho Ava Vitali, a woman from Steve's (Stephen Nichols) amnesiac years. She departed in August. Braun resurfaced in October 2008 as Reese, the girlfriend of ALL MY CHILDREN's Bianca Montgomery.
