    • Jamie McCartney In a conversation with my grandpa he told us that his dad, Joe Herkenrader, who owned a bar and a dump in Tiffin, Ohio, told the nuns at the convent he would bring them a "dressed" turkey on Thanksgiving. Well, he arrived as promised with a turkey on a leash "dressed" in a hat, booties, and cape. Later in the day he brought them a proper turkey fir dinner.

    • Kate Anderson I'm thankful for many things, but StoryCorps is one of them. I'm a US/UK citizen, born, raised and living in Europe. I've got stories from my American mum, family and friends. StoryCorps is my link to neighbours I've not had the opportunity to live next door to, who spell 'neighbor' differently. but in all important ways are as similar and different as neighbours here. Thank you.

I didn't learn them well enough when i had her and she's been gone four years. I miss her so much. The lady in the picuture with me is her sister, and when i can get out to Tacoma, its' wonderful to have the generational family arms around me again. I have not felt "whole" since my mother died... does this feeling ever heal???

    • Deb Mitchell I would like to talk with and listen to my grandmother as she tells HER story. I was a naive teenager when she suddenly passed away in front of us 32 years ago. I've heard snippets of stories, but I know now that there is so much more to this amazing and intriguing woman that I will never know.
