Howard, Nowitzki collect Player of the Week honors

NEW YORK -- The Orlando Magic's Dwight Howard and the Dallas Mavericks' Dirk Nowitzki today were named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, Nov. 22, through Sunday, Nov. 28.

With double-doubles in all four games, Howard led Orlando to a 3-1 record. Howard averaged 26.3 points on .632 shooting and 14.5 rebounds. He hit the game-winning shot at Washington on Saturday with four seconds left to propel Orlando to its third consecutive win. Howard had 32 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks in the victory.

Nowitzki averaged 31.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists on the week. He shot .573 from the field and .533 from behind the arc. His 42-point, 12-rebound night led Dallas past Detroit on Tuesday. The Mavericks went on to win four games in five nights.

Nov. 22 @ San Antonio: Had 26 points, 18 rebounds, three steals and two blocks in a Video 106-97 loss to the Spurs.

Nov. 24 vs. Miami: Posted 24 points and 18 rebounds in a Video 104-95 win over the Heat.

Nov. 26 vs. Cleveland: Netted 23 points to go along with 11 rebounds, two blocks and two steals in a Video 111-100 win versus the Cavaliers.

Nov. 27 @ Washington: Rounded out the week with his fourth double-double, tallying 32 points and 11 rebounds in a Video 100-99 victory over the Wizards.

Dirk Nowitzki, Dallas Mavericks

Nov. 23 vs. Detroit: Posted 42 points, 12 rebounds, two blocks and one assist during an Video 88-84 win over the Pistons.

Nov. 24 vs. Oklahoma City: Tallied 34, four rebounds and 4 assists in a Video 111-103 win over the Thunder.

Nov. 26 vs. San Antonio: Netted 26 points and added eight rebounds and five assists in a Video 103-94 win over the Spurs.

Nov. 27 Miami: Collected 22 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals in a Video 106-95 win over the Heat.
