CHRISTINA PERRI IS NOT A CALIFORNIA GURL!

Christina Perri’s life has literally changed overnight.  This past summer, she had the opportunity to perform her latest single, “Jar of Hearts,” on Fox’s hit show, “So You Think You Can Dance.”  One minute she’s writing this song for herself, to release her emotions and the next minute she’s performing it in front of millions.  She never had an idea of how quickly this would all pan out for her, but she’s not complaining.  She even told us that she’s given her friends and family permission to slap her if she does ever complain about a thing because her life is pretty great right now.  She has a lot to look forward to in 2011, she’s already been told that she may not have any time off next year until Christmas.  She anticipates touring the world and meeting all her fans.  In the meantime, she plans on taking it easy this Christmas in Costa Rica.  Speaking of fans, we asked Christina to tell us about her favorite fan interaction story, which involved an interesting case of mistaken identity.  Hint: her name’s not Katy.  (Click on the audio player to hear Christina Perri)

NARNIA CAPTURES #1 SPOT AT THE WEEKEND BOX OFFICE

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader was #1 at the box office this weekend earning $24,500,000. This is the third film in The Chronicles of Narnia franchise, and had the weakest opening out of the three films.  Still, claiming the #1 spot during the holiday season is a great feat.

The Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp thriller, The Tourist, which opened this weekend, came in at a disappointing #2 grossing $17,000,000. Critics didn’t seem to enjoy the film, commenting on the lack of chemistry between Depp and Jolie.

Tangled, the Disney family animated movie, came in at #3 earning $14,559,000.  Many consider Tangled to be one of the best animated movies of the year.

Rounding out the top 5: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 dropped from its number two spot last weekend to #4 taking in $8,500,000.  In its fifth week of release, Unstoppable landed at #5 grossing $3,750,000, never reaching the top spot at the box office.

OUTBREAK ON GLEE SET SHUTS DOWN PRODUCTION

Run Glee fans! There has been an outbreak on the set of Glee! According to EW.com, a case of Tonsillitis broke out on the set Friday forcing the show to shut down production for the day while shooting their much anticipated Superbowl episode.  Filming is set to resume on Monday. After Diana Agron (Quinn Fabray) was sent home with Tonsillitis, she wrote on her blog, “Note to self…should have gotten a flu shot. In bed, hoping that medicine, soup, my computer and a marathon of movies will be the cure.”

Here’s hoping that the Glee cast returns Monday morning with Vitamin C and a flu shot.

THE WEEKEND BOX OFFICE WAS ALL ‘TANGLED’ UP

Tangled, the family animated movie, was #1 at the box office this weekend taking in $21.5 million. Tangled was released over the Thanksgiving Holiday, coming in second place that weekend.  However, with few other family movies currently in theatres, and good word of mouth, Tangled has shined this weekend among movie goers.

After two weeks in the number one spot, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 fell to #2 in its third week of release, grossing $16.7 million.  This takes the films total domestic earnings so far to $244.2 million, making it the most successful Harry Potter movie so far in the franchise. The final Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, will be released July 15, 2011, and will likely surpass Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1.

The musical film Burlesque, starring Cher and Christina Aguilera, came in at #3 grossing $6.1 million. The movie has found an audience despite negative reviews, and its soundtrack is one of the top five selling albums on iTunes.

Rounding out the top five was the Denzel Washington action movie, Unstoppable, coming in at #4 with $6.1 million, and the romantic drama, Love and Other Drugs, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway, landed at #5 making $5.7 million.  While Burlesque and Unstoppable both earned $6.1 million, Unstoppable gets the #4 spot, since it is shown in more theatres.

NEON TREES CAN SCRATCH SUCCESS OFF THEIR ‘WISH LIST’

2010 has been quite a treat for Neon Trees!  They released their debut album, their first single, “Animal,” climbed to #13 on the Billboard Hot 100 and rocketed to #1 on the Alternative Rock Chart.  Lead singer, Tyler Glenn called into the Fox All Access studios today despite feeling a tad bit under the weather, which explains how awesome he is. We talked about the success of “Animal,” which he simply described as, ”surreal!”  He admits it has been a dream of his to be in a band that’s recognized and that people listen to.  So…they figured the proper way to celebrate the end of 2010 would be to release their very first holiday song, “Wish List.”  It was proudly written by Tyler and it was first inspired by of all things, boredom.  From there it grew into something a lot more meaningful. (Click on the audio player to hear Tyler Glenn)

*By the way, the song is available as a free download on iTunes through Monday night.
