PROTOCOL
A group of set phrases placed at the beginning of the document with the aim to give it a legal and formal perfection and a solemn character (personality). The set phrases that make up the protocol are:
- invocatio: pious appeal to the divinity. It can be symbolic (cross, Chrismon, C of Chrismon, etc.) or oral (for example: In nomine sanctae et individuae Trinitatis …, etc.).
- intitulatio: name, titles and capacities of the author of the document.
- inscriptio: name, titles and capacities of the addressee.
- salutatio: expression of greeting varying according to the typology of the document and the capacities of its author.
