Robert Pattinson has learned his lips are worth a staggering $20,000, after a kiss with the actor was auctioned off at a charity event on Thursday.

The "Twilight" actor offered up his smooch at a gala for the American Foundation for AIDS Research, a fundraiser held at the Cannes Film Festival every year.

The star blushed as he was introduced by movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, who told the crowd they were bidding for a chance to meet, greet and receive a kiss on the cheek from the hunky Brit.

Pattinson joked, "If it goes well, maybe it will turn to something more!"

The bidding jumped to a staggering $20,000, with two lucky guests winning the final prize.

Hollywood couple Joshua Jackson and Diane Kruger also auctioned off a Segway vehicle, while a saxophone donated by former U.S. President Bill Clinton went for $130,000.

Rap mogul Jay-Z has confirmed reports he's parted ways with longtime label Def Jam Records, branding his time with the company as "a unique and fulfilling experience."

The "Big Pimpin'" hitmaker bought himself out of his deal with the iconic label this week, paying a reported $5 million to buy back the rights to his forthcoming album "The Blueprint 3," which would have been his final contractual release on Def Jam.

But Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, insists there is no bad blood between him and label executives Doug Morris and Antonio "L.A." Reid, because he considers them "family."

He tells RapRadar.com, "I can honestly say, working with Doug Morris and L.A. Reid has been a unique and fulfilling experience and I respect them immensely. I've been in the family for almost my entire career.

"Doug and I spoke directly and had one of the most unique 'negotiations' ever.

"I thank him for allowing me to be a completely independent artist. Not every artist can say they own or are given the opportunity to own all of their music."

Jay-Z has released nine albums on Def Jam, and served as president of the label for three years. He stepped down from the top position in January 2008 after signing chart-topping acts such as Rihanna and Ne-Yo during his tenure.

Actress Sharon Stone fought back tears as she paid tribute to her late friend and "angel" Natasha Richardson on Thursday at a charity AIDS event at the Cannes Film Festival.

British actress and AIDS campaigner Richardson died in March after suffering brain trauma following a skiing accident in Montreal, Canada.

Stone was a close pal of the actress, who was married to actor Liam Neeson, and she made sure to honor the tragic star as she took to the stage for the annual Cinema Against AIDS fundraiser in the south of France, held by nonprofit organization amfAR.

An emotional Stone told the audience, "This year we lost an angel from our amfAR family. It was one of those random events that leaves you in a state of shock and profound grief. In March, the funny, graceful Natasha Richardson was taken from us.

"People say, 'Oh, she can't really have been that great or graceful.' She was. 'That funny, charming, sweet and elegant.' She was. She left behind her husband and two stunningly beautiful children and an unfinished mission to help us find a cure for AIDS."

Richardson's support for AIDS charity amfAR has been continued by her husband Neeson, who sent a note for Stone to read out at the event, urging everyone to keep up their tireless campaigning.

Stone pledged $50,000 in honor of Richardson, before Annie Lennox took to the stage to perform "Talking to an Angel," which she dedicated to the late star's memory, saying: "That was for Natasha."

Richardson leaves behind her two sons with Neeson -- Micheal, 13, and Daniel, 12.

"90210" actress Annalynne McCord was so ill with flu she arrived at a recent showbiz event close to collapse, and spent the evening curled up in a corner wearing a bathrobe.

Worried executives feared she was seriously ill when the actress resorted to pulling on a bathrobe and curling up in a fetal position in the corner of the green room, reports the New York Post.

Natalie Cole's joy at receiving a new kidney has been marred by tragedy -- her adopted sister died as the star prepared for the life-saving transplant operation on Monday.

The singer's sister Carol "Cookie" Cole was diagnosed with lung cancer last week, and Cole was by her sibling's bedside when she received news she had been offered a kidney by an anonymous donor.

And shortly after Cole left to undergo surgery, her sister passed away.

The Grammy Award-winner has been left devastated by the tragic events, according to her younger sister Timolin Cole.

She tells New York Post gossip column Page Six, "Our sister Cookie hadn't been to a doctor in 30 years, and last week she went in and they found a cancerous spot on her lung. They had wanted to start chemo right away, but Cookie said no.

"Natalie was there with her at her bedside at 4 in the morning on Monday, and she got a phone call from her doctors that a kidney was ready for her. She said, 'What do you mean? I can't deal with that right now! I'm here with my dying sister!'

"And they said to her, 'No, ma'am. We've got to do it now. You've got to be at Cedars-Sinai in two hours.' I told her, 'Natalie, this is God's gift, and you've got to go now. Cookie would want this for you.'"

A representative for Cole described the news as "a tragic coincidence."

Cole, whose father was legendary singer Nat King Cole, was raised with Cookie as a sister, but her older sibling was actually her cousin. Cole's father also died of lung cancer in 1965 when the star was just 15.

"Angels and Demons" star Ewan McGregor's fears of an early death prompted him to give up drinking alcohol and smoking.

The Scottish movie hunk quit boozing eight years ago and gave up cigarettes in 2007, and he hasn't touched either since.

He admits the thought of explaining to his kids that dad was dying because he took his body for granted made him clean up -- and kept him away from his vices.

He tells Men's Health magazine, "I wasn't someone who could smoke or drink in moderation, and I recognized that those things would kill me. I started visualizing the doctor telling me that I had cancer from smoking or that I was extremely ill because of how much I'd been drinking.

"What kind of regret would I have if I had to tell my children or my wife that I was dying because of something I could have done something about? I didn't want to be that kind of man."

Rapper Drake is playing down rumors he's dating R&B; beauty Rihanna, despite the fact he was spotted kissing the singer in New York.

The "Umbrella" hitmaker has been partying with friends in the Big Apple this week and reports claimed she had been seen getting close to one of the men in the party.

Lil Wayne's protege Aubrey "Drake" Graham was identified by the New York Post's Page Six column as the mystery man on Wednesday, with a source telling the newspaper: "She was drinking whiskey and apple juice and making out with him all night. They were really cute together."

Actor-turned-rapper Drake admits he was out with Rihanna, but the 22-year-old insists the stars are just friends.

He tells New York radio station Hot 97, "It's not like that at all. I'm being honest. (She)'s just a friend, that's all. A great artist.

"(There's) nothing (romantic) at all. I have the most respect for her. I think she's so talented."

Rihanna split from Chris Brown earlier this year following an alleged Grammy Awards eve fight in Los Angeles in February.

Heath Ledger's final film has been given a lukewarm reception at the Cannes Film Festival, and many critics were shocked to see his character hanging from a London bridge with a rope around his neck in his first scene.

Ledger died in January, 2008 before he completed work on Terry Gilliam's fantasy film "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus," with Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell stepped in to complete his part in the movie.

And though film reviewers have been kind to the late actor in his final role, they've not been so taken by Gilliam or his film, which premiered at Cannes this week.

Britain's TimesOnline critic James Christopher writes, "Ledger is a marvel to watch," but insists the plot of the film is "slim, incomprehensible, and desperately unconvincing."

He goes on to suggest the film "could have benefited with a lot more hard story and a lot less whimsy."

And Guardian critic Peter Bradshaw insists the film is "amiable" but "could be for fans only," adding "the film's convoluted curlicues are tiring, insisting too loudly on how 'imaginative' everything is."
