Koscheck is good at being a jerk and GSP is due for a knock out victory so I'll stream it. Miller/Oliveira winner could have some title implications in the future and Stevenson/danzig loser could get canned so I guess those are important fights. Not nearly worth 55 bucks but luckily the internet is the mma fans savior. How's the saying go? "WTF it's free"
Still I would easily put down the money on a UFC event than a boxing ppv any day. Also allot of the events that don't have big names up and down the card tend to be pretty exciting.
Yeah, usually the cards that are weak on paper are the best cards. I can't remember the last time I saw a loaded MMA card that met expectations. The last UFC and the last Strikeforce events I watched that were great on paper bored the crap out of me. Then I'll catch a Challengers show or a UFC Fight Night that is a great show. Go figure.
True, but there's some cards I'll pay for just so I can sit in front of the big screen and not worry about the connection going out and this isn't one of them. I bought wec 48 and ufc 116 recently which were great on paper and wasn't disappointed at all. I almost bought 121 so I wouldn't lose the feed (which can sometimes happen right before the main event and can be hard to find again if you're not prepared for it). Luckily though the whole card came clean on one site and all was good.
Just saying if I'm gonna dish out $55 dollars it better be good on paper and worth watching live. If I'm gonna have to watch koschecks ugly mug on reruns of tuf while I'm channel surfing past spike from here on out I'll be damned if I'm gonna put my money in his pocket too.
I am a construction guy and only new to the wonders of the internet. How do I stream it for free? Help me please.
miller/oliveira should be co-main in my opinion
I agree; Oliveira looked sick in his last fight.
Thiago Alves vs. John Howard. Giving Alves an opportunity to bang after 2 smothering losses. Should be an awesome fight!
Stevenson just beat Nate Diaz and Spencer Fisher. He's not going anywhere. Danzig is a joke though. As much as I like him, he's more of a Strikeforce guy to me. Whats up with McCorkle getting on the main card after beating an over the hill Mark Hunt? This card is extremely weak. I don't mean name wise, I mean style wise.
You're prolly right about Stevenson, he has had a few "of the night" awards, title shot, and he's a tuf winner. He's definitely in cloudy water though
I've said before that I think this will turn out to be a good card. They saw that there was a good chance the main event could be a decision so they filled the rest of the card with fights that will most likely finish.
and Ofhaz, I totally agree, winner of the miller/olivera fight probably gets fast tracked to a title shot, should be ahead of two mid level HWs.
This card is ok, but I think it could use some star power. I personally will not have a group over for this. GSP dec
this event is not worth 55 bucks... sry, I'll go down to the pub and watch it for free. UFC is retarded, charging this much for for only 5 fights... I'm getting tired of UFC anyway... their best fighters have cleaned out their divisions and now it's all mismatches and reruns... there are a lot of other organizations that don't charge an arm and a leg for these fights.
This card isn't worth the money... 55 bucks is crazy! The UFC is out of it's mind charging this much for fights when their top stars have cleaned out their divisions and it's all mismatches and reruns. I will go down to my pub and watch it for free and I'm not going to ever buy another of their pay per views. It's not as if my money is going to the fighters, anyway, so no big deal. So many other organizations charge nothing or close to nothing for their fights and pay basically the same purse to their fighters, so I'm done with the UFC.
Yet another ignorant rant.
UFC pays 2-3 times as much to their undercard fighters and exponentially more to their big draws and champs than ANY other promotion. And PPV money IS paid to most of the established UFC fighters.Try to at least partially know what you are talking about before spouting off like a spoiled child; feel free to take your time removing that foot from your mouth.
Agreed. Another idiot with a keyboard that knows nothing about the UFC, WEC, SF or any other promotion that holds any weight. $55 is a small price to pay for the great entertainment the UFC brings us. I usually watch in standard def. for $45 when we are not having one of our UFC parties at Sports Zone (our local bar & grill). There we pay joehand promotions $1300.00 (based on our max occupancy) and have a $10 cover. Great for me as the promoter and great for the establishment. The UFC has a great pay structure in place for those who preform well. So yes, your dollar goes a long way with each and every fighter the UFC has under contract.
yeah, nice try guys, but 5 fights is not worth 55 bucks! Films made for 300 million dollar budgets only charge 15 bucks to watch them. And no, I have done the research, and the pay, for stars, is about the same in Japan, strikeforce, and UFC. There's a reason they don't announce the pay-per-view cut, because it's almost non-existent! But sing on your praises for the church of UFC... lol.
so MD, what percentage of revenues go to fighters and what percentage go to fritita? since you've done your homework and all.
Actually it gets worse. Here is SF last big event. All you have to do is google UFC payout, Strikeforce payouts, etc. There is no comparison. Also, Brock reportetly recieved 1.3 million in PPV $ for UFC 100.
Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Noons 2 payouts:
Nick Diaz -- $50,000 def. K.J. Noons -- $10,000
Josh Thomson -- $50,000 def. Gesias “JZ” Cavalcante -- $40,000
Marloes Coenen -- $3,000 (including $1,000 win bonus) def. Sarah Kaufman -- $20,000
Tyron Woodley -- $15,000 (including $7,500 win bonus) def. Andre Galvao -- $10,000
James Terry -- $3,000 (including $1,500 win bonus) def. David Marshall -- $1,500
Josh McDonald -- $3,000 (including $1,500 win bonus) def. Ron Keslar -- $1,500
Jess Bouscal -- $3,000 (including $1,500 win bonus) def. Luis Mendoza -- $1,500
Lol... again... nice try, but strikeforce pays a tone of money trying to compete with UFC pay scale... they've been operational for only 18 months, so for a really, really, young company, they're doing amazing, compared to the UFC, who has been around for what, over a decade! They also don't make over 50 million dollars a card, like the UFC. How much money was the UFC paying out in it's infancy? Not as much as strikeforce! Strikeforce only has a TV deal, and or showtime contract. So, they really just have their gate + sponsorship deals and small contract with the networks. For such a small young business they are relatively comparable. We've all read these figures before, they're posted here on MMA fighting dot com all the time! Fedor is still the highest payed MMA fighter, in the world, and he's with the smaller show! I'd love for you to do the real math, and figure out how much the UFC is making each card. Their gate alone covers their contracts and bonuses, including the pitance share of their pay per view bonuses... everything else goes to the company. They make close to a billion a year off of these fighters and give back nothing, and you all want to shine their shoes for it! I don't and wont support the UFC again, until the fighters get a real cut of what their skills, blood, broken bones are worth. Strikeforce pays their fighters everything they can, UFC pays their fighters as little as they can. that sucks!
