BusinessWeek's 2009 Best Undergraduate Business Schools ranking placed the LeBow College of Business 38th among private colleges and universities in the nation and rated LeBow's undergraduate programs an 'A' for job placement.

"We are a very good quality business school and we are at the top of the best worldwide known business schools because there's only 550 accredited schools, so if you are among 38 then you have a distinguished of education and the college and its programs," George Tsetsekos, dean of the LeBow College of Business, said.

BusinessWeek's Best Undergraduate Business Schools ranking takes into consideration factors such as average starting salary, faculty-student ratios, academic quality and both student and recruiter surveys.

"There are several criterion used for the rankings so I would say it recognizes our academic reputation, particularly in partially in respect to our entrepreneurial ranking, but I think it speaks to good academics," Ian Sladen, director for Undergraduate Programs at Drexel, said.

To further improve rankings, Sladen said LeBow is looking to focus on student satisfaction by working on student engagement activities. The college has increased the number of undergraduate student organizations from four to 15 this year.

"An engage student is going to have a better experience than one that isn't engaged in a lot of co-curricular activity," Sladen said. "I think we have a great portfolio of items for students and the degree that we're able to speak to everyone."

However, those who don't hear what LeBow is doing don't appreciate the college as much.

"We need to do a better job communicating all the wonderful things we do for our undergraduate students," Sladen said.

According to Tsetsekos, students cannot see what LeBow does for them because they don't have anything to compare it with.

"The reason why we ranked 38th [instead of] top ten is because somehow students never felt that this is the great environment, that they become business leaders," Tsetsekos said.

He also said he cannot justify why students of other universities rank better at that school compared to our students.

"Sometimes I don't feel appreciated on behalf of our faculty and staff, we are not as much appreciated on behalf of our students [and] we have very good students," Tsetsekos said. "This is a way in which we need to improve as a business school communication between students and the great things that we do."
