Flusspferd 0.8 Released

Flusspferd 0.8 has been released. It aims to improve interoperability between JavaScript and C++.

This release includes: relocatable build trees, JITable modules, an overhaul of the SQLite3 plugin, bug fixes, and other changes.

Lush 2.0 beta1 Released

Lush 2.0 beta1 has been released. It is a Lisp dialect with object-oriented programming and array-oriented programming extensions.

This release includes: case sensitivity, the dropping of outdated packages, the renaming of many functions, built-in math functions that work on arrays, support for namespaces, a datatype library, a gnuplot interface, and other changes.

LLVM 2.6 Released

LLVM 2.6 has been released. LLVM is a portable compiler infrastructure, offering a compilation strategy that allows for compile-time, link-time, run-time and offline program optimization.

This release includes: improved x86-64 code generation, link-time optimization support for ELF systems, new code generators for several architectures, support for multithreaded code generation and optimization, OProfile integration, SSE 4.2 support, ARM V7 support, Ada 2005 bindings, optimization improvements, the first public release of the Clang compiler, the inital work on the llvm-mc project, bug fixes, and other changes.

Rakudo Perl #22 Released

Rakudo Perl 6 Development Release #22 has been released. Rakudo is a Perl 6 implementation for Parrot.

This release includes: support for passing 85% of the available spectest test suite, the implementation of complex numbers as a Perl 6 class, a new signature binder, improved signature introspection, better errors relating to signatures, support for signature literals, support for accessing outer lexical variables from classes and packages, new variants of the series operator, and other changes.

Parrot 1.7.0 Released

Parrot 1.7.0 has been released. Parrot is a virtual machine designed to efficiently execute dynamic languages.

This release includes: performance improvements, improved Parrot debugger documentation, increased use of the Parrot STRING API, the removal of the JIT subsystem, improved line number tracking in IMCC, and other changes.

SWI-Prolog 5.8.0 Released

SWI-Prolog 5.8.0 has been released. SWI-Prolog is a portable, open source Prolog implementation.

PLT Scheme v4.2.2 Released

PLT Scheme v4.2.2 has been released. PLT Scheme is a family of Scheme implementations, including DrScheme and MzScheme.

This release includes: new Scribbles libraries and documentation, the new 'syntax/keyword' library providing support for macros with keyword options, support for abstract contracts via teh #:exists keywords, the addition of 'in-producer', the new 'scheme/generator' library, and other changes.

LFE v0.5 Released

Lisp Flavoured Erlang v0.5 has been released. It is a Lisp syntax front-end to the Erlang compiler.

This release includes: the addition of macro list*, a new shell command to set variables in the shell, cleaned-up compiler options, the addition of Unicode types to binaries, shell and compiler error reporting changes, improved pretty-printing, I/O function updates, and internal improvements.

This development release includes: support for package declarations that include a version number, the removal of suidperl, the enabling of deprecation warnings by default, the end of support for several older versions of Windows, and other changes.

This release includes: the new macro.lsp module implementing a rewrite macro facility, and bug and memory leak fixes.

Seed7 2009-10-18 has been released. Seed7 is a strongly-typed, general-purpose language, offering object-oriented capabilities, exception handling, user-defined statements and operators, plus more.

This release includes: support for new compiler and interpreter actions, improved handling of several existing compiler actions, improvements to the BASIC interpreter example program, and other changes.

GNU Guile 1.9.4 Released

GNU Guile 1.9.4 has been released. Guile is a Scheme interpreter available as a library, designed for embedding within other applications.

This release includes: improved support for installing Guile to non-standard prefixes, support for placing dynamically-loadable extensions in a Guile-specific path, improvements to the 'compile' procedure, support for warning about potentially unbound free variables, improved wide string support, bug fixes, and other changes.

Mar. 2010 Haskell Hackathon in Zurich Announced

WFLP 2010 Call for Papers

Workshops

The 19th Workshop on Functional and (Constraint) Logic Programming has put out a call for papers. The workshop "aims at bringing together researchers interested in functional programming, (constraint) logic programming, as well as the integration of the two paradigms. It promotes the cross-fertilizing exchange of ideas and experiences among researchers and students from the different communities interested in the foundations, applications and combinations of high-level, declarative programming languages and related areas."

Abstract submissions are due November 9, 2009. The workshop will be held on January 17, 2010, in Madrid, Spain.

ICFP 2010 Call for Workshop and Co-located Event Proposals

Conferences

The 15th ACM SIGPLAN International Conference on Functional Programming has put out a call for workshop and co-located event proposals. "ICFP 2010 provides a forum for researchers and developers to hear about the latest work on the design, implementations, principles, and uses of functional programming. The conference covers the entire spectrum of work, from practice to theory, including its peripheries."

The submission deadline is November 20, 2009. The conference will be held from September 27 to 29, 2010, in Baltimore, Maryland.

Falcon 0.9.4.2 Released

Falcon 0.9.4.2 has been released. Falcon is a multi-paradigm language with an open source implementation.

This release includes: the Complex class, the logging module, the addition of the Array.NM() method, and bug fixes.
