A native of Finland, Aino Ettala began her ballet training at the age of ten at the Stalberg Ballet School. In 1997 she was accepted to the Finnish National Opera Ballet School, from where she graduated in 2003. In 2002-2003 she was an exchange student at the München Ballet Academy. Shortly thereafter she began winning scholarships and awards at renowned international ballet competitions such as the Helsinki International Ballet Competition and the Varna International Ballet Competition.

Ettala joined the ranks of the Finnish National Ballet in 2003 as a member of the corps de ballet, rising to the rank of soloist. Her repertory with the Finnish National Ballet included Kitty in Anna Karenina, the second Shade in La Bayadère, the peasant pas de deux in Giselle, Clara and the Mouse King in The Nutcracker and the pas de trois and a little swan in Swan Lake. Ettala has also danced as a guest with the Royal Swedish Ballet in Beijing, Shanghai and Macao in their production of Swan Lake.

In 2005, Ettala was awarded the “Blossom of Dance” prize for promising young talent and was a finalist at the 2009 Helsinki International Ballet Competition.

Ettala joined American Ballet Theatre as a member of the corps de ballet in January 2010.
