With snow flurries in the air, it’s easy to let my mind wander to thoughts of white Caribbean beaches, tropical drinks and sunshine.  As a writer for Luckymag.com, I was introduced to a website full of the perfect combination of swimsuits to get myself ready for a dream vacation. Swimspot.com is an online swimwear boutique featuring designer trend-setting bikinis, one-piece swimsuits, cover-ups, and active wear by Luxe by Lisa Vogel, Hurley, Hurley Girls, Reef, Tommy Hilfiger, Splendid, Ella Moss, Guess, Next by Athena, Athena, St. John and more.

The first thing I spotted when visiting the Swimspot.com website was the Fit Specialist.  The slideshow with the gorgeous bikini clan models on the home page was attractive, but I was looking for ideas that were more for my body type and age.  The Fit Specialist Program is a free “personal shopper” that helps guide you into the right style and fit based on your individual taste, preferences, and body type.  I visited the Fit Specialist and I was impressed by the extent of the services offered.  They had a phone number, email address to set up an appointment, and loads of information to read to get you on the right track for your body shape.  The best thing I read on the page was Free Shipping – Free Returns – Free Exchanges until we get it right. Now that’s the type of customer service I like to see!  There is some homework involved with getting this service, but I thought I would give it a try.

I was a bit disappointed that the girls on the Fit Specialist page were skinny and young.  I would have liked to have seen a variety of models representing different ages and sizes.  Some of the links didn’t work and just sent me back to the home page.  This was a bit frustrating.  Most of all, I found that there was way too much fine print everywhere.  Just the extent of the print on the home page alone was enough to either bump up the resolution on my computer to read it or just skip it all together.

Swimspot.com has a Bikini Builder which allows you to mix and match or mismatch tops and bottoms. Again, I was presented with another gorgeous young slim model that was probably the age of my son.  I clicked around and found that while there were several styles to choose from, there weren’t many color choices.  It wasn’t until I clicked on “Buy This” that it took me to a page with other suggestions in addition to the products I selected.  I actually found a cute Athena skirt in the Items You Might Like boxes.

I decided to skip this section and go on to the box on the home page that said Shop 2011 Styles.  Again with the skinny models, but I liked how the item descriptions and prices popped up when I moused over the photos.  I didn’t find anything I could wear in these selections, but I was happy to find some items I liked by visiting the specific designer pages.  Eureka!  I found loads of suits I would want to purchase although it just took me awhile to find them.  I would have preferred easier navigation to find all one-piece suits.

Swimspot.com has a blog call The Spot and admit I was a bit disappointed not to see Chic Galleria listed under Sites We Love.  I thought the blog as a whole was interesting and offered articles on things other than just swimwear. You can also find Swimspot on Facebook and Twitter.

Overall, my experience visiting the Swimspot.com website was on enjoyable one.  I’m thinking once I start to plan my dream Caribbean vacation, I will contact the Fit Specialist and shop for swimwear via phone instead of a dressing room at the mall.
