OK, so there getting around the fact that the Orlando Magic is a broken team right now. But what exactly is the most pressing problem you see after the Magic’s 111-94 loss Tuesday night against the Denver Nuggets?
Both Dwight Howard and Stan Van Gundy called out the Magic defense. As an Orlando Magic fan, where are you assigning blame?

It’s on Van Gundy. He needs a more creative offense to get other players besides Howard involved. Howards offense has improved, but now he shoots EVERYTIME. Nobody doubles him anymore, so he feels it’s okay to shoot everytime he gets the ball. That does nothing to help other players get their rhythm. The only time Howard looks to pass is if a rare double comes, and then he’s so not used to passing, that he turns the ball over. Please someone name one thing that SVG does as far any offensive creativty? I’ll listen. It’s just a steady diet of give it Dwight, everyone stand out on the 3pt line, and Dwight take every shot. As for Vince not playing defense on Melo, that was Lewis’ man. He couldn’t handle him, so SVG put a much smaller 2 guard, on a much bigger, and one of the best small forwards in the league. Didn’t Vince have 18 last night?

Sal–R.C. Buford and Greg Popovich of the Spurs, never played in the league. 4 gold balls and counting. So your point was…?

IT’S SIMPLE!!!!! VINTAGE CARTER AND RETARD LEWIS!!!!

Orlando did not have the services of Pietrus or Quinton Richardson in this game. They played an 8 man roster and held up well under the circumstances.
JJ had a career game and Dwight was very good. The wings were dogs last night and Denver played lights out, as most teams will against the Magic.
It’s an 82 game season. Don’t panic.

I hate to say it, but Van Gundy is not a championship coach.

Doug’s quote is so funny! But so true. I hate to see the lack of passion when you are getting my money. Makes me want to ask for a refund.
- SVG needs a more balanced offense (pick and rolls, pin downs and pick and pops)
- Brandon Bass needs to be the “MAN” at the 4 spot playing STARTER’S minutes. Let Anderson be the backup to change the pace.
- Let Lewis play the 3 (period)
- Give J.J. more minutes.
I’m frustrated as a Magic fan, but it is hard to win when you don’t have one wing player that does almost everything well.

Magic’s biggest problems is toughness and energy from their starters. I dont like the system of inside out. I would like to see them post up more and drive to the basket and create their own shots instead of always standing behind the 3 point line, just waiting to shoot a three.
Everybody got you all figured out. I say change up the system. Its not all on Dwight, hes only one person. In order for Magic to have a change in the Playoffs, Rashard and Vince must step it up and drive the basket and post up and draw the foul. Get more tough, talk trash and get grimy. Looking at the Eastern Conference right now and you all are in 4th place
behind the Bulls and they are smoking hot. THen you go the Knicks and then boston, they just got it together. Figure out whose gonna be the set starters and stay with it. Stan keeps
changing it and thats why it seems like you all dont have chemisty. Kudos to JJ redick, he stepped up and got a season high off the bench, keep up the good work. HOpefully it gets better, you guys are gonna have to step it up.

Vince Carter and Rashard Lewis are not consistent. Carter can not guard Melo and I am just wondering why Stan always put him in that situation.
Need to trade them too. Chris Duhon is not a reliable point guard. Why Otis got him? Is a big question.
In short, Magic won’t reach the finals at all. Need to improve the roster.
Melo needs to be recruited by Otis. How? That is his problem.
Next season, Dwight will look for a better team just like what Lebron did.

The offence looked awesome without Dwight and Jameer. If Dwight and Jameer have a great night, the Magic win.
The offence looked much better with Vince running it when we had 4 guys out. With Vince running the offence, more guys are able to make higher percentage shots, ie. mid-to-short range jumpers and drives. With Jameer and Dwight, it’s Dwight, a 3, or nothing. And those 3’s aren’t falling as much now that teams are defending Dwight 1-on-1.
Trade Jameer and Gortat for Chris Paul, or for another decent PG and wing player. Let Vince run the offence.

EVERYBODY KEEPS TALKING ABOUT THE POINT GUARD POSITION & I UNDERSTAND THAT HAVING CHRIS PAUL WOULD BE AMAZING! BUT THAT’S NOT OUR BIGGEST WEAKNESS. THE MAGIC NEED TRUE SCORERS (AND PLAY TEAM DEFENSE) AND VINCE IS A GOOD PLAYER, BUT HE WAS BROUGHT HERE TO BE THE GO TO GUY & ALL HE WANTS TO DO IS SETTLE FOR JUMP SHOTS THE MAJORITY OF TIME. I THOUGHT SOMEONE WAS GOING TO CALL HIM OUT ON THAT & FIX THAT AFTER LAST YEAR’S SEASON, BUT I THINK HE DIDN’T GET MEMO, HE STILL DOING THE SAME THING, SO LET’S TRADE VINCE & HIS ATTRACTIVE EXPIRING CONTRACT, AND ANY OF THE OTHER GUARDS (PIETRUS, JJ), FORWARDS QUENTIN, BASS, IF THEY WANT LEWIS GIVE THEM LEWIS, WE CAN DO WITH ANDERSON WHO IS A YOUNGER, TOUGHER VERSION OF LEWIS, TRADE ANY COMBINATION THEY WANT FOR MELO & JR SMITH. IT WILL DO WONDERS FOR THE MAGIC!!

What you need is a player like Carmelo Anthony. Seriously, the Rashard Lewis experiment is over. He is much too passive offensively and defensively for this team. You need someone on the wing who can really force the issue. Someone who can take the ball away from Nelson and keep the team humming. I say package Lewis, two unprotected draft picks and Brandon Bass and see if Denver will take it for Carmelo. Better yet, I think VInce Carter has an expiring contract, package him with draft picks and Bass and see if Denver will bite. The Magic will not make it with Lewis’ passivity, J.J. Redick shows more aggression and he’s not being paid $123 million.

SOMBODY REMEMBER MATT BARNES (THE BEST DEFENDER PLAYER LAST YEAR AND HOWARD) THE REAL PROBLEM IN THE MAGIC IS LEWIS AND CARTER
Posted by: john | Thursday, December 16, 2010 at 8:36 AM
The Magic’s biggest problem is they are not the Celtics or Lakers!
Posted by: HQ | Thursday, December 16, 2010 at 9:03 AM
PROBLEM 1 = CARTER and LEWIS – slow, soft, no D, little effort
PROBLEM 2 = SLOW PACE – last in fast breaks
PROBLEM 3 = NOT DEFENDING 3s – as descibed by this article
PROBLEM 4 = LACK OF FLOOR VISION by PGs – short PGs does not help
PROBLEM 5 = JACKING UP 3s not driving to basket
PROBLEM 6 = LACK OF A REAL GO TO GUY – no creation
PROBLEM 7 = MOST PLAYERS LACK TOUGHNESS
These are just a few samples.
