100 Worst Songs Ever
2. What takes a song from bad to one of the worst songs of all time? Well, it takes all sorts of half-baked musical ideas, crimes of imaging over talent or reliance on quickly burned-out trends to land on our list. My boyfriend thinks the same with me. He is eight years older than me, lol. We met online at agelessmat e.c om a nice and free place for younger women and older men, or older women and younger men, to interact with each other. Maybe you wanna check out or tell your friends.

3. What it all boils down to with everything is personal opinions, personal likes and dislikes. I am sure not everyone would agree that these are the worst 100 songs ever. Everyone has an opinion and that is just what it is, not a scientific fact. That's why I don't listen to movie critics reviews. I like to decide on my own because I have my own opinions.

4. James Blunt - Your Beau-ti-fu-ul...Finally! Someone got it right. That crap singers song was played to death in the UK (where we all know they have the best taste in music).

6. what kind of bozos make these lists up? this is an opinionated list not fact

7. The guy that put this list together must live under a rock. Many of the songs he chose were Top 40 songs that are well loved. I would love to see what he considers the 100 best songs of all time.

8. The person who wrote this list listens to Bjork and Yoko Ono!And loves it!!
Posted at 7:45AM on Sep 11th 2010 by homersclone666
9. Who makes this list?? Probably some prude from NY. Some of these songs have been and are still hits??
Posted at 7:50AM on Sep 11th 2010 by james13feb2002
10. Matthew Wilkening is an idiot.
Posted at 7:52AM on Sep 11th 2010 by jim
11. Every song on that list belongs on that list, what I can't believe is that Yoko Ono's steaming pile of crap babaloo didn't make it. I'm still on suicide watch. as far as Celine Dion is concerned,I would pay to see her fired from a cannon into a brick wall.

12. This is a generational thing...and one generation should be forbidden to critisize the preferences of another...you hadda be there, ya know??

13. ...and THIS is all you guys could come up with, on the anniversary of one of the most horrific events in American history? No wonder this world's gone down the crapper.

14. Gloria Estfan's "Always Tomorrow"
Lenny Kravitz' "I want to fly away"
Lionel Rithie, oh I don't know. Too many to pick from.
Grace Slick's "We Built this City" should be #1.
Posted at 8:24AM on Sep 11th 2010 by Patrick75
15. national anthem "God save the Queen" is,by far, the worst song ever written............
Posted at 8:46AM on Sep 11th 2010 by John Willsher
16. YES! Thank you. Mambo #5. Horrible. But The Pina Colada Song? That's a classic. And even though they dooped us, the Milli Vanilli song is good.
Shouldn't bad writing, bad singing, annoyance, and sometimes overplaying be the top criteria. If you're going to put a song on a list like this, you're expected to state your reasons.
For bad writing, Taylor Dayne's I'll Be Your Shelter with lyric "Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah", several times through the song, should definitely be here.

17. Now you wait a damn minute!!! I like some of those songs and some of those songs had lots of sales and were some of the hottest selling songs on the top 100 list of best sellers and I like the singers too.
So, just because the songs don't meet with your narrow minded perspective of what a good song is, you think you have the right to judge. Nobody cares what you think. You think you have the right to police the songs we like. Remember, they use to out law rock and roll and that didn't work either.
Well, let me tell you a damn thing! You don't know sh!t! The songs you like are crap and you had better learn tolerance before someone kicks your azz!!!

18. And everything Ke$ha.
Posted at 8:45AM on Sep 11th 2010 by jeff weatherill
19. You have missed the point between "worst songs" and "worst recordings of song." Listen to Jacques Brel sing the original for "Seasons in the Sun" in French, or the Italian Lyrics for "Feelings" and tell me they deserve to be on this list. I have hear Leonard Bernstein butcher Barber's "Adagio for Strings;" does that make the Adagio bad?

20. Just remember one thing. Opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one. You list Warrant, but you don't include any songs by Tiny Tim. What were you thinking? Your logic is flawed on this one. Have a good day.

21. They are still throwing this hip hop trash at us. How about more artist that are well known to people over 15 years old. People wonder why America is going to hell.

22. I agree with about 95%

23. #86 Cherry Pie The guy who wrote it hates that song.
Posted at 9:31AM on Sep 11th 2010 by Gim Allon
24. must admit that although I HATE the lyrics to Mambo 5, I LOVE the beat.

25. I read this list out of curiosity as I always do lists such as this, but with the expectation that it would be nonsensical, as they always seem to be. Nothing is as moronic as a person or group of people who try to determine what the rest of the population should like or dislike. Music is a musical gift to mankind, and no matter what style you like, it lifts us up, and helps us get by. Myself, I couldn't stay sane very long without music to listen to occasionally. I don't like country or hip-hop, but who am I to tell anyone it's bad music? Variety is the spice of life. From the selection of songs on this list, many of them high on the charts at their time, and the inane comments by the author, I'd say the judges were in their early 20's, and think the world was created the day they were born.

26. Why do you guys at AOL insist on doing these idiotic "Worst and Best" lists. You'll never get it right. Everyone has a reason for loving or hating a song. Quit wasting space!!
Posted at 9:19AM on Sep 11th 2010 by Roxy
27. I agree that We Built This City should be number one or close to it .... Here are a few more in my opinion ....
- Crazy Bitch by Buckcherry ...not because it is vulgar , but because it sucks and it seems like a 14 year old wrote it
- Closing Time ..i dont know who the band is , but that song is AWFUL
- Anything by The Cranberries

28. Escape and Hot Stepper are 2 of my all time favorites! Boo Hiss to the author!

29. I read 100 -81, and will just stop right there. This guy is an idiot. I disagreed with about half of his choices so far.

30. wow, i only agree with half your list. number 100 shouldn't even be on the list, a lot of people love this song. your opinion sucks!!!!!!!!

31. Feelings on this list? Man and I believed that was a great song!
Posted at 9:58AM on Sep 11th 2010 by Bobby
32. Ah, 'Milli-Vanilli'. What was the hint that something was 'amiss'and the duo was a fake? '5's'! It was either FIVE words or FIVE sylables...1)Mill, 2)i,3)Va, 4)Nill, 5)i, or five words...'1).Girl 2)You 3)Know 4)It's 5)True, ('thier first 'hit') 1)Baby 2)Don't 3)Forget 4)My 5)Number.

33. Michael Jackson is the greatest, i don't know why people are hating .The Girl is Mine is wonderful so this should not been added.
Posted at 9:54AM on Sep 11th 2010 by Tonette Hampton
34. Girl You Know It's True? Come on people...so what if they didn't sing it...the beat is great, it's catchy and it has the best line ever in a song..."together we're one separated we're two!" That's as real as it gets.

35. #96--"You're Beautiful" These clueless critics miss the meaning. This song is from the viewpoint of a destitute man--probably homeless, schizophrenic, living in the subway. If you're a physician or psychologist, you can't miss the delusional thinking. Referring to the man with the beautiful woman, he says, "I've got a plan," when there is none. He thinks angels destined him to be with this woman, whom he does not even know. It's not a cloying love song. It is a very realistic song about a sad man whose mental illness has ruined his life, and a brief moment of joy followed by sad reality.
Besides, about the song's musical content, I can only say, You're Beautiful.

37. For inducting Hotstepper, I hope the ghosts of Flyboy Rocco Rock and Johnny Grunge haunt you for the rest of your life. ECW! ECW! ECW!

38. I went through the list and there were some of my favorite songs on the list. BUT, I read the comments and some readers hit right on with the songs that I have always hated. Midnight at the Oasis and MacArthur Park are unbearable. I never understood someone making a song about a cake in the rain.

39. Milli Vanilli... ha... fun stuff. Their look never caught on. To me they looked like Cosby show rejects. Seriously man, where did they get their clothes? Then the "controversy" came up and I thought it was hilarious.... As funny as it was this guy runs off and kills himself! Then all of a sudden its not so funny. This poor sod offed himself because he was lip synching. People have done worse things in this country. I actually have to admit I feel sorry for this guy.... and his partner, you never hear of anymore. What a time that was. By the way, I thought the song was terrible but the dancing was pretty funny too, check it out on youtube.
40. I tried to do a search to find the author Matthew Wilkening's credentials, and all I found out was that he had "some connections" to the music industry. More obvious is he is a writer for AOL Music. Like most who have commented, I only agree with a portion of the list, it all seems based on opinion. Overplay, overhype, and bad connections seem to qualify some songs as well. I also tried to find out by what standards made a song qualify on the "bad song" list; I saw none. I guess that's why the disclaimer in the introductory paragraph. Bottom line: This list does not appear to be validated.

41. Muskrat Love, horrible, even hurts your ears to listen to it.
Posted at 10:16AM on Sep 11th 2010 by ABlair
42. Creed's With Arms Wide Open.... you obviously don't have children, or any respect for those that do. The struggle I have gone thru as a single father has been redeemed time and time again by this song. "We've created life!" Wow... what a horrible thing to say huh. Epic fail asshole.

43. Obviously these song selections are only the view of some dude not girl who doesn't know anything about categorizing genres lol. Why is Michael Jackson on any "worst list". Are yall trying to start a riot? lol. I think they just came up with this to get itunes more song hits. Then some genius at AOL decided after he woke up from a dream on how to make money by having us check out their worst song station lol. Yall double teaming up on us! It's called marketing strategies. Okay I'm done with my opinions and facts! Have a nice day AOL'ers

44. At least have the courtesy of qualifying your dates. Believe it or not, accept it or not, there was music before 1950! Granted, it was much BETTER music but there were clinkers in there, too! But I resent the feeling of my very own generation that music was invented by Elvis Presley! Give me Gershwin, Porter, Berlin and Broadway any day! (And I was born in 1955.)

or
take your tongue out of my mouth so I can say goodbye

47. Connie your list was great. Agree with all. This list needed to be about 100 songs longer. Anything by Paula Abdul should be listed at the top. Did she have more than one song?
Posted at 10:24AM on Sep 11th 2010 by Peg
48. Hilarious reviews by Matthew ...LOL !
P>S> Don't sell your grandma short !

49. Although some really vile songs appear on this list, it loses all credibility not mentioning "In the Year 2525." (At least I didn't see it listed)

50. Oh Noooo..... I love the Pina Colada song......
