Jaluit, Marshall Islands

Jaluit is a large atoll located at the southern end of the eastern Ralik Chain, situated around 220 km southwest of Majuro (on the opposite chain of atolls) and 126 km southeast from Ailinglaplap (like Jaluit, an atoll of the Ralik Chain).

The formation consists of a 60 km long triangular-shaped atoll measuring 60 km in length and up to 30 km across. Upon the reef are 84 tiny islets with a combined area of 11.34 km² — most of this area being made up the largest island of Jaluit (10.4 km²). The central lagoon covers an area of 690 km².
