Tennessee

St. Jude After Completion of Therapy (ACT) Clinic
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

262 Danny Thomas Place
Memphis, TN 38105
(800) 775-2167

Clinic Director: Dr. Melissa M. Hudson
Staff: The clinic is staffed by 5 pediatric oncologists, 2 primary care providers (a family practitioner and internist), 6 nurse practitioners, and 2 social workers.
Clilnic Hours: The clinic currently meets daily.

The aim of our clinic and our services: Our aim is to help St. Jude alumni stay healthy after treatment ends through education about cancer-related health risks and healthy living and by health screenings. We routinely provide survivors with cancer treatment summaries and personal health records to share with their local doctors. We work with survivors to help them find local resources to stay healthy after cancer. When needed, we will write to insurance companies to explain why certain tests may be needed, based on the former patient’s cancer history.

Who is eligible: The clinic limits services to patients who received treatment at St. Jude. Patients treated at other centers who move to the Memphis area are also eligible for services. St. Jude patients are eligible for transfer into the ACT Clinic when they are 5 years from diagnosis and their disease has been in remission for at least 2 years after completion of therapy. Patients are seen annually by the ACT Clinic staff until they are 10 years from diagnosis and at least 18 years of age. Most adult survivors then graduate as alumnus of the clinic. They are monitored annually through a mail questionnaire sent by the St. Jude Cancer Registry. St. Jude alumni survivors are now eligible to return for health evaluations as part of the St. Jude Lifetime Cohort study. Please contact the St. Jude Lifetime study coordinator by e-mail (shelia.shope@stjude.org) or phone (901-595-3482) for more details.
