NFL Sunday Football: Open Thread

Cozy up in your favorite seat, grab your beverage of choice, make sure your fantasy rosters are set (if you're in the playoffs) and join us here in Da Chronic's open thread for all of today's NFL action.

The Saints don't play until tomorrow night, obviously, so take a break from watching "A Christmas Story" for the fourteenth time, turn on the NFL game in your area and join us here for some fun in-game chatter.

On FOX, I will be watching the San Francisco @ St. Louis, a huge NFC West matchup that could determine who will win the division and who the Saints will play in the first round of the playoffs. Unfortunately, the all-important Seattle @ Tampa Bay game will not be shown here in New Orleans. That game is critically important because if the Bucs lose, the Saints are automatically in the playoffs, regardless of what happens on the field tomorrow. So someone will have to be in this thread keeping us all updated!

Make the jump for a full list of today's games. To find out which game will be showing in your neck of the woods, click here and get the full broadcasting maps for all your NFL Week 16 action.

It's been a while (nearly a month) since we've been in this position - staring a "No Saints Game Sunday" in the face.

Whatever will we do with ourselves today?  You can start by reading all your Saints news right here at the CSC.

There are some compelling matchups later on today that should garner our attention, and I'm sure there will be open threads up soon for spirited group discussion of those following the early and late games.

San Francisco @ St. Louis has some impact on a possible first-round playoff opponent for us, as does the Seattle-Tampa Bay collision in addition to it featuring the Bucs team we play next week.  We also have some other playoff teams in action  - New York Jets @ Chicago, New York Giants @ Green Bay, Titans @ Chiefs, Washington @ Jacksonville, Minnesota @ Philadelphia, New England @ Buffalo.

Many of these may also be made more interesting, at least in my opinion, by the SNOW FACTOR that could come in to play.

Much more Saints news and notes await you after the jump, so don't miss them!

How will your "no Saints game Sunday" play out?

Saints Holiday Schwag: Whatcha Got?

If any of you out there are like me, you probably get a lot of Saints-related gifts during the holidays, your birthday and other special events where gift giving is expected. It's easy to shop for me because if it's black & gold, I will probably love it.

I personally celebrate Christmas so when it comes to Saints schwag, I make out like a bandit this time of year. If you recently celebrated Christmas, Channukkah, Festivus or any other holiday where receiving presents is customary, I want to hear about what you got this year in the comment section below. Even better, post personal pictures of your new Saints schwag. And make the jump to check out pictures of my newest Black & Gold gear.

Special thanks to the friends and family who helped make this post possible.

Did you receive something Saints related this holiday season?

Saints @ Falcons: Holiday Chat with the Enemy

To those out there who celebrate it, I would like to wish you all a merry Christmas. To those out there who don't, I hope this regular day is at least a special one.

As my gift to all of you, regardless of what holiday you may celebrate, I present our traditional chat with everyone's favorite non-Saints blogger, Dave the Falconer, from Atlanta Falcons blog The Falcaholic. It's become tradition before every Saints vs. Falcons matchup for the two of us to catch up on our respective teams and allow all of you to read the resulting transcript. And since Dave and I have become such good friends, our chats usually border on the insane. So make the jump to get better acquainted with the Falcons and, hopefully, get a good laugh at the same time.

A happy and a safe holiday season to all of you!

'Twas the Night Before Christmas

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house

Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;

Playoff wishes were hung by the chimney with care,

In hopes that Sean Payton soon would be there;

Young Who Dats were nestled all snug in their beds,

While visions of Super Bowls danced in their heads;

Which is the better Christmas movie?

Merry Christmas Eve to one and all. Happy post-Hanukkah, post-Solstice, pre-Kwanzaa, or however you observe the season.  I just hope you are enjoying this fine holiday season.

I am on my first day of Christmas Vacation (woo-hoo!!!  no work til January 3!!!), and I'l be filling in for the sensational David "Satch" Kelly while he's circumnavigating the great state of Alabama, visiting his family.  Safe travels and Happy Holidays, Satch!!!

Today's F-D-L brings you lots of lists - injury lists, lists of Tweets, lists of reasons the Saints are sure to win, lists for reasons the Falcons will not lose, and lists of links to plenty of Saints news and notes.

Make the jump down the chimney and curl up with some milk and cookies as you gaze over the laptop at the roaring fire every now and again as you read the latest and greatest...

Saints @ Falcons: Game Predictions

Ho, ho, ho! It's a special Christmas Eve version of prediction Friday!

By now you should all know what to do and how to do it, but just in case you don't, you can catch up on the rules of the game right here. As always all are welcome to partake, including opposing fans. This is a great opportunity for those readers who have never signed up or commented to finally dip their toe in the water.

Last weeks winner, as voted by you guys, was CSC member jray2000. Congratulations to him. In case you missed it, here are the three correct predictions that earned him the victory.

1. Lance moore will score a TD
2. Flacco will attempt less 32 or fewer passes
3. Drew Brees will complete 22+ passes

Now, without further ado, it's time for your predictions! Let's hear 'em!
