Celebrating 10 Years!
This Saturday, the Living Arts Centre (LAC) will welcome the community to a special open house to celebrate 10 Years of Living the Arts.
The free festivities run from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. with activities for the whole family.
The LAC's various spaces will hold performances and rehearsals featuring local community arts organizations.
Participating groups include Mississauga Choral Society, Forward Theatre, Mississauga Big Band Jazz Ensemble, Mississauga Festival Choir, Ambiance Singers, Barvinok Ukrainian Dance, Cesar Forero, Dancers for Cancer, Fiesta Filipina Dance Troupe, Oplenac Serbian Dance, and What’s On? Tap!. Performances begin at 11:30 a.m. and run throughout the day.
The Creative Art Zone will feature activities for all ages including creating beaded bracelets, block prints, and more.
To commemorate the 10th anniversary, the community can participate in the creation of a collaborative piece that will be installed at the LAC.
There will be a wide range of other activities throughout the building.
Tours will run from the Information Desk every 15 minutes.
Wandering performers will entertain with their busker style acts and create balloon animals. Artists will demonstrate ceramics and painting.
The LAC's gallery will hold an opening reception for the newest exhibition, Camera Works, featuring photographic works by local artists as part of A Month of Photography.
Don’t miss the official cake-cutting ceremony at 2 p.m., with free cake.
There will also be free balloons, tattoos, door prizes and much more.
Next week’s column will provide details on the upcoming season of performances.
