Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness

Contacting Staff

Please read this page before contacting us.

Please, before you contact staff, make sure your questions are not answered by either the Guidelines for Making a Request or the FAQ's for Volunteers. Most, if not all, questions will be answered on one of those two pages.

IF you are a requester and:

Are looking for a volunteer:

Is this your first visit to our site? We want your visit to be a successful one. Our staff has put together a list of Guidelines for Making a Request for you to view and read before making any requests. A link to the volunteers will be provided after you have read the Guidelines.

Need to report a bad email address or non-responsive volunteer:

If you are reporting a volunteer's e-mail address that is no longer valid please use this form. Please be sure you fill in all the necessary items, or we may not be able to help you.

For non-responsive volunteers, please be sure that you have followed our timeline as outlined in the Guidelines prior to reporting. Then use the form in the above paragraph for reporting a non-responsive volunteer.

To report you did not get your blind carbon copy of your request:

Please check your spam folder first to see if it did not get filed there erroneously. Also, as the blind carbon copies are addressed as coming from you originally, some ISP's have set their mail servers to identify that as spam and never deliver it.

You may have had a typo in your email address when submitting your request. If you feel this might have been the case, please resubmit your request. Indicate on your request that you are resubmitting the request as you did not receive your blind carbon copy and are making this resubmission as a backup.

Due to a recent reconfiguration of the mail servers at HOTMAIL/MSN, most requests made through the RAOGK site are not being received by HOTMAIL/MSN users. While we work on a solution to this problem, it is highly recommended that you use another email address when submitting your requests. Thank You.

IF you are a volunteer and:

You need to change your listing

We have set up forms for you to use if you would like to change your act of kindness, change your address, to go on temporary status (for up to 3 months) and to remove yourself.

Haven't received a request in a long time, and you are still listed on the site:

ATTENTION HOTMAIL/MSN USERS:

Due to a recent reconfiguration of the mail servers at HOTMAIL/MSN, most requests made through the RAOGK site are not being received by HOTMAIL/MSN users. While we work on a solution to this problem, it is highly recommended that you use another email address when signing up as a volunteer for RAOGK. Thank You.

Computer crashed? Lost a request?

All requests sent through our server via the form are archived on our server. We are able to retrieve your missing request. You must have an idea of when the request was sent and, and if possible, what the request involved when sending your message.

If you have volunteered and your listing does not appear:

Listings are added manually, and members of our staff are also volunteering their time, we do allow up to 5 days to get a new listing or change made. If it has been longer than 5 days, please write to us indicating when you signed up and for what locality.

If you want to volunteer and you are a MAC OSX user and having problems with the form, please send us a message with the following:

Your name:
e-mail address:
alt e-mail (if any):
State or Country (if not USA):
County or Territory (if not USA):
If not USA, region:
Act of Kindness

If you are having trouble with any of our forms, when you contact us please let us know:

Which form you are having a problem with
About the time of day you had the problem
What operating system you are using (MAC or PC with version #)
What browser you are using and what version #
State as clearly as possible the problem you are having

The staff of RAOGK does NOT answer genealogical questions. Please locate a volunteer in the area that you seek for those type of questions.

Looking for a volunteer? You will need to read our Guidelines for Making a Request before doing so.
