What is RSS?

RSS is a convenient way to keep up with many Web sites and blogs without having to visit each one separately in your Web browser. Instead, the sites and blogs notify you that they have published new material.

RSS delivers headlines, and sometimes full news items, in "feeds" that users can subscribe to. As with e-mail, users can read RSS feeds with software that runs on their own computer, or through services that operate on the Web. These tools are usually called "feed readers" or "aggregators."
