Online Research at NCNM Library

NIH introduces Images, a database of images in medical literature
More than 2.5 million images from medical and life sciences journals are now available through Images, a new resource from the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), developers of PubMed.  The initial content of Images comprises images and figures contained in NCBI's PubMed Central full-text digital archive of medical and life sciences journal literature.  Images are searchable by keyword and other parameters, and can easily be saved to a MyNCBI collection and shared with others.

A new database: InteractionsGuide
The library has subscribed to a new database published by Dr. Mitch Stargrove. The database provides clinically oriented evaluative information on both the adverse and beneficial interactions between herbs and/or nutrients and drugs. Click on the link to search from the NCNM campus (for the off campus link, check the NCNM databases list): InteractionsGuide.  The library also has multiple licenses to the most recent version of IBIS: Integrative BodyMind Information System, published by Dr. Stargrove as well.

New e-Journal Launch
The AANP has a new official peer reviewed monthly e-Journal, called the Natural Medicine Journal. It premiered in September 2009. Check it out at this URL: http://www.naturalmedicinejournal.com

Find Books Worldwide With WorldCat
Wondering if a book has ever been published on your topic, or what library owns a particular book? Now you can use WorldCat, the world's largest combined library catalog. More than 10,000 libraries worldwide contribute to WorldCat. Try it at http://firstsearch.oclc.org/fsip?dbname=worldcat&done=referer.

For off-campus access, use this link https://ezproxy.ncnm.edu/login?url=http://firstsearch.oclc.org/fsip?dbname=worldcat&done=referer.

What was that book I checked out last term?
There is now a reading history option within the Library catalog. If you turn this option on, the catalog will keep track of the library materials you have checked out, and you can view a list of them anytime. This function is not automatically turned on - you need to go into your patron record and activate it for it to work. If you would like to turn on your reading history, log into your patron record, then click on the "My Reading History" link, then click on the "Opt In" link. If at any time you wish to discontinue your reading history, go to the same place and click on "Opt Out."
