First snowfall

We are living in winter wonderland! I cannot believe how much snow we've gotten so far. It was nonstop all weekend long! It is supposed to be the snowiest winter yet due to lake effect. The lake of the temperature was really warm this summer, so that leads to more snowfall! I don't mind, actually! It's fun having a lot of snow. When I drove out to work today, there was no snow in the city. It's so strange how 35 minutes away can be so different.

(whippersnapper grandpa cardigan - c/o lulu*s | tights - target | boots - urban outfitters

I'm super excited for the rest of December! Next weekend, we have my work holiday party. The weekend after that, we have our fourth annual Christmas party. The weekend after that is Christmas! So crazy! It's going to fly by. I really want to get some fun things in - like last year, we went to Frankenmuth. I'm not sure when we're going to have time, but I'd love to go again! Or do something like that! For a while there, Brett and I were taking monthly adventures around the state. We've been trying to save money lately, so we've held off.. but I'm itching to have a day away!

I've been living in cardigans, tall boots and my giant circle scarf lately. In the beginning of winter, I'm not so lazy to throw on a giant coat, thick socks, an extra cardigan, a thick circle scarf, gloves, but as it goes on.. I just get so lazy to put everything on before I head out the door! But I have to admit.. I love winter, because it makes spring so so sweet! Plus, I can't imagine Christmas without some snow on the ground!

I am in love with this outfit. I also love how you re-styled this dress! I love love love when you style the same dress in different ways... it helps me to think of my own wardrobe differently. Also, your hair looks really good up like that. I don't think I've ever noticed it not being down before.

I adore that dress! You just have the best collection of flower print dresses on the internet. Quite a legacy to have, lady.

Love the snow!

Btw, lemme know when that hair clip comes in the mail so I know it got there okay! One never can tell with snail mail....

Oh my goodness. I ADORE everything about this post. I probably say that every couple of posts on your blog.. haha! But seriously. Your outfit, the snow, those incredible boots, that second picture down... everything is too perfect!

I love wearing spring floral in winter - and that dress is a favourite (it's even in my header now, haha!)

I'm so jealous of your snow and the fact that you are getting a white Christmas. I like summer Christmases here.. but there is something so festive about snow!

Phew, long comment...

I love the pretty spring colors of your dress against the snow...it makes a lovely picture! And I don't know if you dyed it or if it's just growing out, but I'm in love with your hair color right now! It's gorgeous.

And just like you can't imagine Christmas without snow, I can't imagine Christmas with it. I don't think its snowed on Christmas for the entire 15 years I've lived in Texas!

The west side of the state is way behind on snow. It snowed in Detroit for the first time over a month ago. We got some this weekend too, but it was kind of patchy and melted by morning. I love the floral dress! I'm a big fan of color in the winter. I hate when everyone starts resorting to all black and grey. Doesn't nature already give us enough of that on it's own?

April, Everyday Forgotten said...

Omg, this is seriously my favourite look now! I just love the dress with that cardigan and the scarf and the boots!

Killer outfit! I've been an avid follower for a while now, but have yet to comment. Unlike most, winter is my favourite season, so I'm excited to see what you've got in store. You've inspired me to keep my florals in rotation . . . now just to knit me a circle scarf over the holidays!

Jessica said...

I love this look! I love how you can rock the florals all year long!

P.S. My granparents used to live in Frankenmuth and we'd visit every year at Christmas when I was a kid. I would love to go back to Bronners sometime and stock up on Christmas goodies!

Aww, I used to live in Michigan, so this post really makes me miss it and the snow. I live in Houston now, so while it's nice most of the time, sometimes I get really nostalgic for the cold weather and how pretty first snowfall is. That cardigan looks amazingly cozy. Love it!

well aren't you stinkin cute? I love the blue-gray color of the scarf! I'm a fan of all these circle scarfs, though I don't have one yet. I'm from MI, living in Alaska, and we have had snow and yucky roads for well over a month now. I was pretty jealous to hear that ya'll were still having summery weather while I was driving on skating rink roads! Also, if you go to Frankenmuth, please take lots of pictures! My hubs is from Huron Co. and I know he would get a major kick out of seeing someplace so close to home. P.S. I think cities don't get as much snowfall as other places because of the smogginess from the masse of concrete, chimneys, and industrial-sized buildings, but I am too lazy to look up the facts, ma'am :) Happy Tuesday to ya!

A few things:

#1 - This outfit is perfect.
#2 - I know the phrase "lake effect snow" all too well. Cleveland has been getting it all weekend, too, and it's gorgeous but oh so chilly!
#3 - Those pictures are so pretty! Is that little wooded area near your home?

How in the world did you wear only that yesterday? :-P It was so cold, I'm not far from you and there is no way I'd go out in only that sweater! Or did you actually wear a coat and took it off the the photos? I'd like to see what type of winter coat you wear in Michigan weather!

Those boots are perfection. Do they have heels? I've been searching for something like those for ages. A little victorian, a little outdoorsy. And I think it's so delightful that you have a burst of florals on. So anti-winter but in such a great way. xo
