1. How do you pronounce your name?
It's spelled Tieka, but it's pronounced tee-kuh.
2. How long have you been blogging and what made you start?
I started blogging in September 2009. I started my personal style blog because I had lost 35 pounds and was so inspired by the many ways I could dress my new body! I googled personal style and came across an article on fashion bloggers. I've been hooked ever since!
3. How did you lose 35 pounds?
I followed Weight Watchers for 8 months to lose 35 pounds! It was an amazing journey. You can read more about my weight loss story here.
4. What inspired the name Selective Potential?
I wanted something that I could grow with - whether my blog was personal style, more about trips, adventures or my daily life with my husband. Someday, it could possibly include baby posts! I like the word potential because I feel everyone has it and is able to live up to it.
5. How do you get the custom font for your font titles?
I followed this tutorial here. Very easy!
6. What camera do you use and how do you get the vintage effect?
I use a Canon Rebel T2i with the standard lens it came with. We use all auto settings and auto focus. For editing, I use Photoshop CS4. For the vintage effect, there are several google tutorials or you can purchase actions to create the effect. I use actions from Totally Rad Photoshop Actions.
7. What is your career?
I'm a graphic designer at a communications company. I absolutely love my job.
8. Who is Brett?
Brett is my husband! We've been married for four years. We met when I was 17. We became great friends and started dating a couple of years later and were quickly engaged and married. We're in too much love for our own good.
9. Where is your favorite place to shop?
I absolutely love ModCloth and Urban Outfitters.
10. How do you choose your featured blogger and how often do you update your blog roll?
For my featured blogger, I choose one for every season. Typically, I love to feature girls who deserve the spotlight, who are kind and friendly, girls where it's obvious they really care about their blog and spend a lot of time on it. I update my blog roll every so often when a blogger truly sticks out to me - not only with personal style, but with interesting content.
