SXSW 2010: Five companies to watch

The techies are leaving Austin today following the close of South by Southwest Interactive yesterday. In their place comes the music industry, whose bands, fans and execs are here for a festival that runs until Saturday. I’m here until Friday because Feargal Sharkey, of UK Music, addresses the conference tomorrow. It will be interesting to hear what he has to say as the Digital Economy Bill progresses through Parliament.

There were many many companies at SXSWi hoping to attract investment, users and attention but here are five that caught my eye:

SXSW 2010: Is half of Spotify's business doomed? MOG thinks so

Updated: MOG, a new internet music streaming service, unveiled its new mobile app at South by Southwest this morning. The service launched in the US in December last year and will come to Britain in the summer.

For $5 a month MOG users can access unlimited streams of music. The mobile app will cost $10 a month and allow that music to be saved to a mobile phone. Mobile users will be able to see playlists made by other users, access streaming internet radio and artists biographies and reviews.
