(NEWSER) - Thanks to Anne Hathaway, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes may not be gracing the world with their presence at the Academy Awards. They’re considering a boycott because they’re displeased with Oscars co-host Hathaway for mocking Holmes during her stint on Saturday Night Live in November. “They used to be friends,” a source tells the Daily Mail (Cruise and Holmes even, oddly enough, took Hathaway to a Tina Turner concert to cheer her up after her bad break-up ), but the SNL incident “left a sour taste.” Click for more, or to see the SNL skit. (NEWSER) - It was a bad year for movies—so bad that Burlesque got nominated for a Golden Globe . But “it was a great year for nudity,” Jim McBride tells AOL News . McBride runs the Mr. Skin website, which annually ranks the 10 best nude scenes of the year. 2010’s picks:

• Jessica Alba, The Killer Inside Me: It’s just a brief glimpse of her butt, but since it’s her first nude scene—and her best asset—it makes the list.
• Kirsten Dunst, All Good Things: She’s “never had a real nude scene in her career until now,” and her topless shower scene with Ryan Gosling “doesn’t disappoint.”

James Franco and Anne Hathaway, Academy announces

(NEWSER) - Your 2011 Academy Awards hosts: James Franco and Anne Hathaway. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences tweeted the announcement today, adding that you should "tweet them your advice!" Oddly, both actors could potentially be nominated in the lead categories, Franco for 127 Hours and Hathaway for Love and Other Drugs, PopEater notes . Forgettable film has moments to treasure

(NEWSER) - Love and Other Drugs—with Jake Gyllenhaal playing a Viagra salesman who falls for Anne Hathaway's character—has a lot to offer, but critics can’t prescribe it without a few caveats. (It has a 38% rating on Rotten Tomatoes , though audiences give it a solid 70% approval mark):

• The film “almost works, sustaining its blend of melodrama, low comedy and graceful wit for a good hour or so,” writes A.O. Scott in the New York Times . But it’s “treacle, evasion and maudlin convention at the end."

Nudity has become lazy signal of high-art aspirations
