UK Government Investigates Activision

Another blog and gaming site has contacted Gamers Voice in the UK, and has also confirmed that the  UK Government will be investigating Activision under UK advertising laws due to the problems the PS3 and PC platforms of the game. Gamers Voice provided an open letter to Activision on the widely reported problems from the UK consumer in December last year.  Gamers Voice has yet to make a formal announcement on it's website on this, however I did confirm this in an earlier blog with a response I got directly from Chris O'Regan the Director of Industry Relations of Gamers Voice.

There is still no word from either Treyarch or Activision as to when the wide spread connection problems will be fixed.  Guaranteed Treyarch is hard at work with the forthcoming map pack instead of dealing with some priority issues the game still faces.  In that light, here's some of the interesting twitter exchange with Dan Amrich (@OneOfSwords), Activisions "social media" PR guy I had today:
@jkoblovsky: "Alright @JD_2020 I can't get any answers from @DavidVonderhaar or @OneOfSwords when are connection issues with the PS3 going to be solved?"

@jkoblovsky: "@JD_2020 @DavidVonderhaar @OneOfSwords that would be the PS3 version of Black Ops. The community and myself need answers please."

@OneOfSwords: "@jkoblovsky I thought I sent you these links before, sorry if I didn't: http://is.gd/qpaI8j and http://is.gd/3ftTgB That's all I've got."

@jkoblovsky: "@OneOfSwords I have those links, but they do not provide the answer as to when connection problems with BO will be fixed!"

@jkoblovsky: "@OneOfSwords in fact http://bit.ly/gpg0Py strong suggests connection problems not being treated as priority by developer."

@jkoblovsky: "@OneOfSwords what's also obvious is Activision needs to know more about what's going on with Black OP, considering: http://bit.ly/gVwktH"
Mr. Amrich has not responded.  It looks like Activision has to be held legally accountable to fix the ongoing issues, rather than acknowledging them, and working with the consumer on a priority basis to fix the game.  That about sums up the "reality" of the commitment both Treyarch and Activision have made with the gaming community on this game, and displays the of the level of customer service both of these organizations have displayed towards consumers who just want it fixed.

UPDATE: Patch 1.06 will be released soon, which was somethat that Mr. Amrich did fail to mention in his response, posted a day ago from Treyarch.  So 3 months later after release, a legal threat from a consumer group in the UK, and my conversation with an Activision support rep make their rounds, will the game actually be fixed?  Stay tuned..I will report more a week after patch 1.06 has been released.

Full update on the situation can be found here.
