Sierra Leone’s High Commissioner to the UK and Ireland His Excellency Edie Turay(pictured with wife at the Town Hall meeting)  has said that the 50th Independence Anniversary is not  only time for celebration but time to reflect on  our past mistakes and successes  as a nation.Fielding questions in London at the famous Town Hall meeting of 29 January 2011, High Commissioner Turay said: “In other words we learn from our past mistakes over the past 50 years, and reflect on our successes and build on them. We would have the opportunity to determine what we shall do in the next 50 years based on what we have done or not done in the past 50 years.”

AML secures $417m

Leading iron ore project Development Company in Sierra Leone, African Minerals Limited (AML) has finalised its secured loan facility agreement with final commitments amounting to $417.7m.

According to a regulatory news service announcement (RNS) from the London Stock Exchange, the secured loan facility will allow the company to fund completely Phase 1 of its flagship Tonkolili project, taking it through to first production, expected later this year.
