Territories of Australia
The Federal Government, through the Department of Regional Australia, Regional Development and Local Government administers Ashmore and Cartier Islands, Christmas Island, the Cocos (Keeling) Islands, the Coral Sea Islands, Jervis Bay, and Norfolk Island as Territories.

Christmas Island is located in the Indian Ocean 380 km south of Java and 2,650 km north-west of Perth. For more information, visit the Christmas Island page.
The Jervis Bay Territory (JBT) comprises about 6,677 hectares on the southern shores of Jervis Bay, approximately 200 km south of Sydney by road. For more information, visit the Jervis Bay page.

Norfolk Island (NI) is situated in the Pacific Ocean about 1600 km north east of Sydney, 890 km north-east of Lord Howe Island and 1100km north-west of Auckland at 167°57'E, 29°02'S, with a similar latitude to that of Byron Bay. The Island is about 8 km long and 5 km wide with an area of 3455 hectares. To the south are two small, uninhabited islands: Nepean and Phillip.
