Return To Garber: Women's Lax Hosts Stony Brook Saturday

Coming off an 11-4 win at New Hampshire last Wednesday and having 10 days off, the No. 18 UMass women's lacrosse team will host Stony Brook on Saturday at Garber Field. The Minutewomen are looking to equal their best start since 1986 as a win would improve them to 6-0. The Seawolves won last season's meeting 14-7 at Stony Brook. MORE

Happy Birthday to Jamar Smith on March 9. Tough day for the UMass teams on Tuesday. The basketball suffered a 78-50 loss to Dayton in the Atlantic 10 First Round at the Mullins Center. Seven From Field Hockey Recognized For Academic Excellence

Seven UMass field hockey players were honored on Wednesday when the National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced the 2010 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA National Academic Squad. Alyssa Ineson, Elizabeth Karns, Molly MacDonnell, Alexa Sikalis, Callie Sweigart, Alesha Widdall, and Thando Zono were all recognized for having cumulative GPAs of 3.30 or higher. MORE

#5 UMass Suffers First Loss, 9-8 At Albany

After falling behind 6-2 in the first half, No. 5 UMass rallied to within one goal on two occasions, but were unable to get over the hump and suffered its first loss of the season, 9-8 at Albany. Joe Resetarits scored two of his three goals in the fourth quarter to seal the win for the Great Danes (2-1). The Minutemen are now 4-1 and have a week off before traveling to Providence next Tuesday. MORE

Hockey Clinches Playoff Berth With 4-4 Draw With No. 14 Maine

The UMass hockey team erased a three-goal first period deficit to battle to a 4-4 tie with No. 14 Maine on Senior Night at the Mullins Center. With the draw, the Minutemen clinch the eighth and final playoff spot in the Hockey East Playoffs, and will travel to Chestnut Hill to take on Boston College next weekend. UMass Falls To Dayton In A-10 First Round, 78-50

Led by a 31-7 run between the 6:43 mark of the first half and 16:46 in the second half, Dayton defeated UMass, 78-50 on the Atlantic 10 Championship first round on Tuesday night at the Mullins Center.
