After an exciting lead-up to the 2010 ARIA Awards that has seen the presentation of sixteen ARIA "Genre" Awards, four ARIA Artisan Awards and the induction of five bona fide music legends at a heartfelt ARIA Hall of Fame event, ARIA is proud to announce the final winners of the 2010 ARIA Awards season.

Before a capacity audience comprised of members of industry heavyweights and music fans, the final eleven ARIA Awards were presented in style at a dazzling event at Australia's most iconic venue - the Sydney Opera House on Sunday 7 November 2010 (broadcast on Network Ten).

Capping off an extraordinary year, brother/sister act ANGUS & JULIA STONE (pictured) have taken out the much coveted ARIA Award in the category of ALBUM OF THE YEAR. With thirteen lovingly crafted songs reflecting a myriad of emotions, the album is Down The Way, which peaked at No. 1 on the ARIA Album Chart and has been an unstoppable force. have also won the ARIA Award in the category of SINGLE OF THE YEAR forANGUS & JULIA STONE Big Jet Plane, a beautifully understated song with a dreamy string arrangement that has captured hearts. The siblings also won an ARIA Award on Friday night in the category of BEST ADULT ALTERNATIVE ALBUM and proving that their talent lies beyond writing and performing, ANGUS & JULIA STONE also won two ARIA Artisan Awards in September for PRODUCER OF THE YEAR and BEST COVER ART.

Singer/songwriter WASHINGTON has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that her star is swiftly on the rise. She has taken out her first two ARIA Awards in the categories of BEST FEMALE ARTIST and BREAKTHROUGH ARTIST for her sensational debut album, I Believe You Liar. With wordy, twisty, clever pop lyrics about love she has a voice that has bought grown men to tears. Hailed by songwriters of the calibre of Paul Kelly and Tim Finn, this original troubadour is destined to make hearts sing and faces smile.

If WASHINGTON is the Queen, then her King has been crowned. DAN SULTAN has been named BEST MALE ARTIST on the back of his electrifying album Get Out While You Can. Already the winner in the BEST BLUES AND ROOTS ALBUM category for 2010, Sultan's second album is a romp through rockabilly, blues, soul, roots, country and swing. The album shot to Number 1 on the Independent Australian album charts and remains one of the highest selling independent releases in the country today. All hail the new King!

Atmospheric pop outfit THE TEMPER TRAP have won their first ever ARIA Award in the category of BEST GROUP for the glittering single Love Lost from their widely acclaimed album Conditions. Currently taking the world by storm they have also won an Award in the inaugural Public Voted ARIA Awards presented by V Energy Drink. As voted by the people, THE TEMPER TRAP has won in the category of MOST POPULAR AUSTRALIAN SINGLE for their majestic anthem Sweet Disposition.

Winning her second ARIA Award for 2010 is the enormously talented artist known as SIA. On Friday night she won the ARIA Award for BEST POP RELEASE. Now SIA has won the ARIA Award in the category of BEST INDEPENDENT RELEASE for her brilliant album We Are Born. With a collection of thirteen pop gems (including the impossibly catchy Clap Your Hands), this is an upbeat, joyous album that reflects a free spirit and a future so bright, she'll have to wear shades.

The people have spoken! In the inaugural Public Voted ARIA Awards presented by V Energy Drink music fans have made their voices - and choices - heard!

In a fitting finale to their phenomenal music career, Australia's biggest band has won two of the four publicly voted ARIA Awards, presented by V Energy Drink. With the sun about to set on one of the most beloved bands in Australian history, the Awards for most MOST POPULAR AUSTRALIAN ARTIST and MOST POPULAR AUSTRALIAN ALBUM, as voted by the Australian people, have gone to POWDERFINGER for their final studio album Golden Rule. With a whopping, grand total of eighteen ARIA Awards under their belt, and too many accolades to list, POWDERFINGER we salute you!

The inaugural ARIA Public Voted Award, presented by V Energy Drink, in the category of MOST POPULAR INTERNATIONAL ARTIST has gone to North London quartet MUMFORD AND SONS. With a gutsy, old-time sound that marries the magic of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young with the might of Kings of Leon, their incredible energy has drawn Australian music fans in to their circle of songs, to the warmth of their stories, and to their magical community of misty-eyed men.

The 2010 ARIA Awards were held for the first time at Australia's most iconic venue – the Sydney Opera House.

NSW Minister for Major Events, Kevin Greene, said the NSW Government through Events NSW is thrilled to support the ARIA Awards, this year for the first time taking place at the iconic Sydney Opera House.

"Sydney Opera House provides a spectacular backdrop to showcase Australia's best music talent to the world. The ARIAs are a highly anticipated event on Australia's music calendar and their profile and nation-wide recognition as our country's premier industry awards reinforces Sydney's place as the number one destination to stage prestigious and coveted events," Mr Greene said.

"Our global city is the natural home for the ARIA Awards. We are the hub for Australia's recording industry with the four major record labels having their headquarters in Sydney. The NSW music sector directly employs around 8,000 people, 42 percent of employment in the sector national," he said.

Mr Greene added that like the artists receiving Awards tonight, Sydney had also scooped Awards' accolades. "Last month, Sydney was named Best Festival and Events City in the world by the 2010 International Festivals and Events Association.

ROUND FIVE! THE NEXT ARIA AWARD GENRE WINNERS ANNOUNCED - SIA, ANGUS & JULIA STONE AND BIRDS OF TOKYO 05.11.10

In an exciting week that has seen the presentation of winners in the categories of Best Blues & Roots Album, Best Children’s Album, Best Original Soundtrack/Cast/Show, Best Hard Rock/ Heavy Metal Album, Best Music DVD, Best World Music Album, Best Jazz Album, Best Urban Album, Best Dance Release, Best Country Album, Best Adult Contemporary Album, Best Comedy Release and Best Classical Album, ARIA is proud to reveal the final three (of sixteen) ARIA Award "Genre" winners.

This final presentation leads us to the main course, and the main stage at the Sydney Opera House where the 2010 ARIA Awards will unfold in style with the eleven final awards and eight live performances, including the last ever live television performance by Powderfinger.

Multiple ARIA nominated artists Angus & Julia Stone and John Butler (with special guest Old Man River) performed at the final iTunes Live: ARIA Awards Concert Series 2010 residency at Sydney's Botanic Gardens where the winners in the final three ARIA Award Genre categories of BEST POP RELEASE, BEST ROCK ALBUM and BEST ADULT ALTERNATIVE ALBUM were announced.

Singer/songwriter SIA has taken out the Award for BEST POP RELEASE for her infectious album We Are Born. With a diverse range, she has channelled upbeat, energetic pop into her fifth album. Each song on the album is vibrant and playful with celebratory handclaps and an impossibly catchy collection of lyrical hooks. The anthem Clap Your Hands is case in point - a song so instantly familiar that it's almost hard to believe it hasn't been around forever. With a knack for clever feel-good melodies, give it up for Australia's new pop princess SIA.

With their self-titled third album BIRDS OF TOKYO (pictured) have won their first ever ARIA Award in the category of BEST ROCK ALBUM. Described by triple j as "rock music with equal parts brain and heart", Birds Of Tokyo is an album that carries with it the entire emotional gamut of a love lost, and the broken heart it left in its wake; set to music of depth and complexity. Featuring the voice of Ian Kenny, guitarist and producer Adam Spark, drummer Adam Weston and the bass playing of Anthony Jackson, theirs is the endless creative vision whose music comes to life with cinematic grandeur.

They have already won two ARIA Artisan Awards (PRODUCER OF THE YEAR and BEST COVER ART). Now sibling duo ANGUS & JULIA STONE have won the ARIA Award in the category of BEST ADULT ALTERNATIVE ALBUM for their number one album, Down The Way. The album reached Platinum status and became the highest-selling album by an Australian artist in 2010 in just two months. The folk sweethearts have had a cracking year and it's not over yet!

ARIA warmly congratulates the winners in the above ARIA Award genre categories and all the winners that have been presented with ARIA Awards this week.

In what will be a spectacular night of entertainment, the 2010 ARIA Awards will be hosted by NATALIE BASSINGTHWAIGHTE and DYLAN LEWIS. In their last ever live television performance POWDERFINGER will share the 2010 ARIA Awards performance stage with DAN SULTAN, GUY SEBASTIAN, ANGUS & JULIA STONE, JOHN BUTLER TRIO, SIA, WASHINGTON and BIRDS OF TOKYO. Actor ERIC STONESTREET (from the smash hit Network Ten comedy Modern Family), Silverchair's CHRIS JOANNOU, OPERATOR PLEASE, RICKI LEE, STAN WALKER, PHIL JAMIESON, JESSICA MAUBOY, CLARE BOWDITCH, JASON DERULO, TIM ROGERS, BOB KATTER (Independent Member for Kennedy) ANDREW HANSEN and JULIAN MORROW from THE CHASER, KASEY CHAMBERS, FUZZY, MYF WARHURST, JAMES MATHISON, AXLE WHITEHEAD, RONAN KEATING, YUMI STYNES, GEOFF HUEGILL, KELSEY MARTINOVICH, LARA BINGLE, MTV's RUBY ROSE and DARREN McMULLEN and CARMEN ELECTRA round out the 2010 cast to take on presenting duties on the night.

The 2010 ARIA Awards will be broadcast on Network Ten at 8.30pm on Sunday, 7 November.

Don't forget, general public tickets are on sale now via Ticketek and the Sydney Opera House and a reminder for all general public ticket holders to wear all white on the big night!

YEE HAA! THE McCLYMONTS AND CHRIS TAYLOR, ANDREW HANSEN and CRAIG SCHUFTAN WIN MAIDEN GONGS - CROWDED HOUSE AND PAUL DYER & THE AUSTRALIAN BRANDENBURG ORCHESTRA ALSO TAKE HOME ARIA AWARDS 04.11.10

ARIA is proud to return with details of night four in the rolling presentation of the sixteen ARIA "Genre" Award categories. Already announced have been winners in the categories of Best Blues & Roots Album, Best Children's Album, Best Original Soundtrack/Cast/Show, Best Hard Rock/ Heavy Metal Album, Best Music DVD, Best World Music Album and last night's presentation of Best Jazz Album, Best Urban Album and Best Dance Release.

Multiple ARIA nominated artist SIA (with special guest Sally Seltmann) performed at the iTunes Live: ARIA Awards Concert Series 2010 residency at Sydney's Royal Botanic Gardens where the winners in the categories of BEST COUNTRY ALBUM, BEST ADULT CONTEMPORARY ALBUM, BEST COMEDY RELEASE and BEST CLASSICAL ALBUM were announced.

Winning their first ever ARIA Award in the category of BEST COUNTRY ALBUM is sister trio THE McCLYMONTS (pictured) for their album Wrapped Up Good. With their exquisite three-part harmonies, soaring vocals and stunning onstage presence, it's not surprising that THE McCLYMONTS have taken the Australian music scene's collective breath away. Recorded in Nashville, the album has harnessed the talents of Taylor Swift's producer, Nathan Chapman. Wrapped Up Good soared to the No. 2 position on the ARIA charts cementing their position as the urban-savvy darlings of Australian "New Country".

With their sixth album, Intriguer, CROWDED HOUSE have won the ARIA Award for BEST ADULT CONTEMPORARY ALBUM. Their first album since reuniting to record Time On Earth a few years back, Intriguer rocketed straight to the No. 1 position on the ARIA Album chart. With leader Neil Finn's carefully crafted songs, meticulous eye for lyrical detail and gift for melody, CROWDED HOUSE continue to record some of the best pop music on the planet.

The Blow Parade, the comedy brainchild of The Chaser's CHRIS TAYLOR & ANDREW HANSEN and triple j’s CRAIG SCHUFTAN, has taken out the ARIA Award for BEST COMEDY RELEASE. The release features Captain Blow as he looks back on a vintage year from the golden age of pop, and takes us behind the scenes of the making of a classic album (none of which actually exist!). Put together by some of the genius, satirical minds ever to emerge out of Australia, this brilliant mockumentary series (which aired on youth radio network triple j) takes the mickey out of music industry mythology, music journalism and syndicated golden-oldies radio.

Winners in the same category in 2009, PAUL DYER and THE AUSTRALIAN BRANDENBURG ORCHESTRA have backed up to receive the ARIA Award for Tapas – Taste Of The Baroque in the category of BEST CLASSICAL ALBUM. A veritable tasting plate of gorgeous music, the album is a spicy 17th-century mix from Southern Europe, inspired by songs and dances of love, fire, beauty and freedom. Five time ARIA Award winners in this category, they bring earthy improvisations and an adventurous spirit to the Baroque in this beautiful album.

ARIA warmly congratulates the winners in the above ARIA Award genre categories.

Friday, 5 November will see the announcement of the final three ARIA Awards in the genre categories of Best Pop Release, Best Rock Album and Best Adult Alternative Album.

It has also been announced that to help wrap up the final night of the iTunes Live: ARIA Awards Concert Series 2010, John Butler will be returning for a double headline bill with brother and sister ANGUS & JULIA STONE, with special guest, Old Man River. Doors open at 5.30pm and there will be additional tickets available on the door on the night.
