It’s for a James Franco art exhibit that opens officially on Saturday at the Gagosian Gallery in Beverly Hills. … Franco’s art exhibit is called “Unfinished” and is a collaboration with his “Milk” director, Gus van Sant. …Yes, the same James Franco who’s co-hosting the Academy Awards on Sunday … The show will be unveiled on Thursday night at the Gagosian Gallery, followed by a usual suspects dinner at Mr. Chow’s. Ok, so because even we are confused about what happened last night in Oscar news … we are compiling a few lists to keep you up to date each day. We’ll combine the first couple days today but will do daily pieces starting tomorrow.

The Costume Designers Guild had their little party last night at the Beverly Hilton … highlights of their awards went to Amy Westcott for Black Swan (contemporary film), Jenny Beavan for The King’s Speech (period film), Colleen Atwood for Alice in Wonderland (fantasy film), Lou Eyrich for Glee (contemporary TV), John A. Dunn for Boardwalk Empire (fantasy/period), Cindy Evans for Temple Grandin (made for TV movie) and Aude Bronson-Howard for Chanel/Bleu de Chanel (commercial).
L.A. Vanity Vair editor Wendy Stark Morrissey & Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter (in town for VF’s Campaign Hollywood) hosted the opening of Ray’s and the Stark Bar at LACMA. Ray’s is part of the Patina Restaurant Group and will officially open for public consumption early March. Absolut Wild Tea shut down the London rooftop for a party with the Supper Club and famous synchronized swim troupe The Aqualillies.

FYI: Equinox Fitness, MGM, Tom Ford boutique Coming to Beverly Hills, Wendy Stark Opens Namesake Restaurant & Lounge at LACMA, Andy Hewitt Re-Opening Il Sole with Brent Bolthouse tonight
We heart Wendy Stark. She is the god mother of one of our Trufflers here and, for those of you who don’t know, the daughter or Ray Stark who was quite the producer (Funny Girl, The Way We Were) here in L.A. She just hosted an opening for the new LACMA restaurant called Ray’s and a lounge called the Stark Bar via a gift from the Stark Foundation. Wendy is also a LACMA trustee, and the Los Angeles editor of Vanity Fair (NBD).
Guess what? Remember when William Morris sold their 3 Beverly Hills buildings and leased space in the new high rise on Canon and Wilshire, but then merged with Endeavour who had space for them, but William Morris would have left the lease anyway because the building also rented to Gersh which was against their non-compete clause?
Well, guess who is going to fill oh those many offices left empty by William Morris’ broken lease? We hear MGM !! Our truffle hunters tell us MGM just signed a lease on the property and are moving out of their Century City tower and into the new Beverly Hills building. Mazel Tov!
They aren’t the only ones making deals … Equinox fitness finally signed a lease in teh Bank of America building in Beverly Hills which measn you’ll know where to find us! Our trufflers tell us that Equinox had originally bid on the Sports Club L.A. location located on Camden underneath William Morris Endeavor but lost it to the rival gym.
Also Andy Hewitt wil re-open Il Sole tonight which has been shut since December for some rens. Brent Bolthouse has jumped on board with Andy as a partner. Lots more to come on this!
In other Beverly Hills news … Tom Ford will FINALLY open his boutique (YESSSSSSSSS!) on Rodeo Drive this week. Big opening on Thursday this week …
We also have a sit down coming soon with Cedar Sinai’s head of Anesthesiology, Dr. Julian Gold, who is running for Beverly Hills city council (VOTE MARCH 8, 2011). His platform is highly endorse by The Daily Truffle and we will get in that more in the next couple days.

Guess what Trufflers! It’s that time of year again and we have a busy week ahead for Oscars! We have been getting reports from agencies, pr firms, friends, family and even the City of Los Angeles about worthy celebrations going on throughout the week. We thought it apt to take pay a little homage to all the best Oscar parties thrown every season …
Los Angeles Most Notorious Oscar Parties & Their Hosts:
1. Vanity Fair - The magazine hosts an annual Oscar Viewing & After party on Sunday – historically at the old Morton’s (now Cecconi’s) and has been at Jeff Klien’s hotel The Sunset Towers for the last 3 years. 2. Bryan Lourd - CAA’s Bryan Lourd hosts an annual Oscar party chez lui
3. Ari Emanuel - The head of William Morris Endeavor goes head to head with CAA’s Bryan Lourd the Friday before the Oscars with his Oscar party now in it’s 2nd year. The battle of CAA vs. WME is always a Truffle must.
4. Brett Ratner, Madonna and Demi Moore - Madonna and Demi Moore have been throwing the coolest Oscar after party EVER at Brett’s house a couple years in a row now … Prince usually performs. And obviously Ashton performs too ;)
5. Dani Janssen – Dani Janssen’s Oscar after party on Sunday, so the story goes, gets a full celeb turn out and each person gets a personalized doggie bag of Dani’s infamous cooking to take with them for rest of the night ahead of party hopping.
6. Jeffrey Katzenberg - DreamWorks CEO hosts the Annual “Night Before” Party held at the hotel pool at the Beverly Hills Hotel which benefits the Motion Picture and Television Fund where Jeffrey is the Chairman. (Jeff also throws an Emmy’s equivalent called “The Evening Before” which was held outside CAA in Century this past Emmy’s).
6. Nic Beggruen - Nic the Billionaire hosts an annual pre Oscar party at the Chateau each year with the usual L.A. suspects who go out and international travelers. Usually Nadine Johnson historically handled riff raff patrol.
7. Patrick Whitesell – WME’s Patrick Whitesell use to throw his party with Brent Bolthouse in that round house up up up up on Fairfax … it was known as the “Vanity Fair after party” … in addition to Patrick’s and Ari’s parties this year, WME is also hosting a soiree at a certain Bungalow 1 that sounds rather special.
8. Elton John & his man David Furnish - the most famous Oscar party is a fun viewing party if you are not nominated but still want to be in the element. It is at the Pacific Design Center ever year and benefits his charity – the Elton John Foundation.
9. Norby Walters – the man behind the Annual Night of 100 Stars at the Beverly Hills Hotel – if you are not at the Oscars and you are not at Elton’s John’s viewing party and your name is Steven Spielberg, you are here.
10. The Los Angeles Mayor & The Hollywood Reporter – last year this party was a bit of a bust. Protestors from the City rallied outside Villarigosa’s Hancock Park home and streets were shut off for 6 blocks in all directors. It was all quite the scene.
12. Alex Hitz – Annual Oscar Eve dinner fete prepared by his truly (a Cordon Bleu trained chef tho he learned his best stuff from his mother’s cook Dorothy growing up in the South) is an intimate affair for Beverly Hills socials who are friends with the Coca Cola hier, including Nancy Reagan in past years.
13. Global Green – Annual Oscar Party historically thrown the Friday before the Oscars and offered Prius transport to celebs has moved to Wednesday and swapped hybrids for Volts.
14. Harvery Weinstein – Annual party at Soho house on Oscar eve – this year he is also having a special dinner with Dior during the week.
15. Barry Diller – Barry and Diane Von Furstenberg always host an annual day party before the Oscars – c’est tres chic.

Camille Grammer Officially Off Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and Bravo has cast a New Housewife!
It’s Official. Time to end the rumors and call T.O.D.
The Daily Truffle has just learned Bravo has officially re-cast a NEW HOUSEWIFE(!) to replace the role of Camille Grammer who has officially left the show!
This is no longer speculation. This is the truth from a good source. And if you read The Daily Truffle you know we are the ones who announced the show first and who announced the cast first and who went to the premiere party etc, etc, etc.
But wait …. Hark! Did we say “re-cast”?! Yes .. we did!
Meaning a new housewife will join the cast next season! We can’t tell you who, but if you keep your eyes peeled around Beverly Hills for the next couple months … you are sure to see the new gal pal of Adrienne, Kyle Kim, Taylor, Lisa and Jiggy!
I am looking forward to seeing Camille on CNN this weekend at the Oscars and wish her and her children and the staff ;) the best in all their next endeavors.

Kanye West, Kobe Bryant, Bruce Willis Star in Robert Rodriguez Short Film
Welcome to All Star (traffic) weekend in Los Angeles where some of our friends went over to the Nike launch party Friday at Drais’ to get a sneak peek at a new Nike produced short film that has been showing up in teasers all over TV for the last few days. Director Robert Rodriguez teams up with with Kobe Bryant in a mock pitch meeting about a proposed Hollywood screenplay based around Kobe’s alter ego ”The Black Mamba,” and involving an evil maniacal coach played by Kanye West who is collecting the world’s best basket ball players for his ultimate evil league. Bruce Willis and Danny Trejo also star … Kanye West performed after the premiere of this short film on Friday at Drais’ (co-owned/managed by Cy Waits FYI who is Paris Hilton’s bf). Nike released the video on it’s website at midnight that night and sent us over a little note in the a.m. asking us to post it on The Daily Truffle, so here it is y’all. PS – One rad lesser known fact about Kobe is that he takes a helicopter to Lakers practice from his house every day.

Party Crasher Makes Off With Paris Hilton’s Birthday Cake!

Last night, a guy named “Paz” is claiming he crashed Paris Hilton’s birthday party and made off with the cake! The crasher “Paz” posted a detailed account of the hiest on his Facebook page this morning when he awoke and found the enormous cake in his apartment (he was a tad wasted). Now, don’t worry too much all you Paris fans out there – the birthday girl actually had more than one cake. Paz made his great escape with trickery, deceit and a Jedi mind-trick on the event’s security, walking right past several hired guards with an authoritative look any good cake-removal-professional would have, and out the front door to his friends Nissan and rode all the way home with the cake on his lap.
I brush shoulders with the guy who resembles the head of security… “Hey man,” I say to him with an air of I-know-what-I’m-doing. “The cake is in that room, right?” “Yes, sir,” he acknowledges with a slight bow toward the rear of the house. I take my cue and make a bullet for cake city… In one fluid motion, I sidestep a confused waiter, seize the prize, and about face to the door… I pass the security chief again on the way out… I nod purposefully… he nods in return… 40 seconds later I’m in the front seat of a Nissan Maxima with 70 lbs. of awesome in my lap. Success.
Failblog, Gawker, Perez Hilton, ET and The Insider readers have been commenting on the story all day. Reactions have ranged from “Epic” to “Give this man a medal” to “Everything about this is awesome” … but Perez Hilton had an alternate stance on his blog scolding Paz for crashing a birthday and stealing property.
So the story goes, Paz was told by one of the wait staff that the cake would most likely get thrown out because there was a second larger cake being served to guests. This article is hilarious, well written and the pictures are a nice touch but I can’t help but wonder if this story is entirely true. Paz, did you really “steal” the cake …? I almost think maybe he was offered to take the cake home at the end of the party because it would have been thrown out or was perhaps he was one of the waiters.
Kudos for getting a picture of the giant IRON MAN Paris hired that shot lasers and fog at her guests. You can see another picture of Paris Hilton fleeing from Iron Man on Carlos Lopez’ blog, who was at the party (and was invited).

Cementing his position as a true American sportswear designer, Phillip Lim sent out a line up of game starters for his AW show ….
Contrasting camel leather raglan sleeves popped on a sapphire double faced silk jumpsuit and again on a swirl print floaty ‘gown’, this time with patent leather as the contrast; totally unexpected yet completely right.
This play with color (bright green, sapphire, mustard), texture (armor like beading, shine), and pattern (‘marble’ silks), grounded the collection in signature Lim manner.
Present contingencies as follows: intellect/arts: Anne Duong and Salmon Rushdie (OMG), IT gals: Dani Stahl (love love the hair), Jen Brill (looking oh so good in bright pink lips!) and Sky Ferreira …. oh and you couldn’t miss the Anna Della Russo under a towering gold cherry headpiece …. ooh lala!

It all made sense as the procession of patterns bound through St. John’s Center ….. mimicking the circuit board image on the AW show invite, designers Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough, aka Proenza Schouler sent out models clad in slouchy hip trousers that resembled tribal prints gone digital and pointy hemmed dresses that reminded of blanket stripes…hmmmmm.
Aha! Then it all clicked, and beautifully at that….the laser cut velvet sheaths echoed chevron patterns found in Native American pottery, the ‘sunset’ color combination reminiscent of the southwest: mustard, red,orange….inspiration interpreted in a thoroughly modern manner. Another winner for sure!

“Diesel Black Gold is Diesel’s gift to those who understand that style has nothing to do with uniformity” ….. so guides the primer for the AW men’s and women’s runway show in the cavernous Pier off the Westside Highway.
Backstage afterward with designer Sophia Kokosalaki this statement is articulated; Kokosalaki understands the rock n’ roll sensibility that is inherit to the brand, her goal is address that and find the perfect pant and jacket that will embody that aesthete . She did so this season with an extremely flared leg leather jean and laced up corset jacket in cranberry calf skin leather. Somehow the volume of the flares looked so right, and so hot!….maybe it was the fit, which was fit indeed!
Other looks included canvas corset cropped jackets that had a whiff of that military/heritage feeling, a navy knit cut away cardi worked that same feeling and felt fresh….also included were embossed leather corset tunic dresses and swirl printed silk underpinnings, shearling whip stiched coats and furry stacked heeled boots.
Front row peeps on hand: Keri Hilson, Paz de la Huerta (clad in leather head to toe…), and Vanessa Hudgens (burgundy leather mini) …….

Titled ‘North’, Karen Walker’s AW collection looks to Northern England’s notorious Wigan Casino disco circa late 1970′s, early 80′s …. tho very loosely – no safety pins, moto jackets or creepers in sight. Instead we can rely on a quiet unexpected echo of those times in a vinyl sleeve on a silk tee sheath or vinyl as a panel across a gauzy printed skirt ….
Chunky knits made an appearance paired with tie front silk crepe de Chine “badge” print pants; enticing anyone to join the Girl Scouts were this the uniform!
No shortage of color either: orange, yellow and brilliant blue made an appearance in Docker coats and floaty gowns ….. Lovely.

Who Designed Lady Gaga’s Grammy Awards Costumes?
It was Thierry Mugler but check out these shots from the VPL runway … Victoria Bartlett just showed her fall 2011 collection a couple days ago in New York Fashion Week and a few looks on the runway bare a striking resemblance to Lady Gaga’s rubber-ish looking skirts last night at the 53rd annual Grammy Awards … !

It’s no surprise Stacey Bendet knows what a girl likes…and most likely what a girl can have!
Choosing a sumptuous alcove at The Plaza on Valentine’s Day with champers, chocolate, cookies and cocktails, this designer knows how to do it right …
The Alice & Olivia presentation/tableau worked perfectly in this old world atmosphere: tulle, sequins, feathers and a bit of edge worked their way into this collection. There was the queen bee in a full skirt sparkly frock, the crasher in leather jeans and stripey mohair, the grand dame in 20′s style fringe and fur…take your pick and pick it apart as these looks work as separates as well … after all, that is the essence of this label and why it is such a success!
And of course on hand to congratulate Bendet were Vanessa Hudgens, (in coral flapper coutesy of A&O), Becka Diamond, Minnie Mortimer and DJ Mia Moretti, rockin in a lil string tie and boy ensemble … !

Bone chilling winds couldn’t keep a heap of fashionistas away from yet another stellar presentation from our favorite fashion boy wonder Chris Benz … !
Mind you, THIS fashionista decided to be early and not miss the gig as happened last season. Models clad in tiered printed chiffon, shearling vests, cut out boiled wool jackets and rich brocades, (big trend this season), kept a packed house in awe!
Continuing a successful collaboration with genius shoe designer Alejandro Ingelmo and milliner Patricia Underwood maintained the quality and tone of this harmonious show; proving that this talent is most def in the same league as the ‘big tent’ heavy hitters.
